A little while later, Werther heard a Den Den Mushi ringing. Ferdinand, that idiot, had started contacting Anita's father.
"Hello? Mr. Ferdinand, is that you? Do you have news of my daughter?" A steady voice came through the Den Den Mushi.
"Hello, Johnny Saint. This is Ferdinand. We have news of your daughter. This Den Den Mushi is connected directly to the kidnap—no, to Mr. Werther's Den Den Mushi. He'd like to speak with you himself."
Ferdinand had nearly said, "This Den Den Mushi is connected directly to the kidnapper." He'd grown used to calling Werther that, but then he remembered the lunatic was listening on the other end and hastily corrected himself.
"Is that so? Wonderful. Mr. Werther, we've put tremendous pressure on Sengoku. What will it take for you to release my daughter?" Johnny Saint went straight to the point. He clearly had no intention of playing games with Werther.
