A Wish (Third Update; Thanks to Listening to the Wind and Watching the Rain for Becoming a Top Supporter)
Diamond Jozu lay before Werther, covered in blood.
Werther had severed Diamond Jozu's other hand, and deep sword wounds covered his body.
The worst wound was across his chest. A sword slash ran through half his torso. That same strike had severed Jozu's arm and cut halfway through his chest.
It had also shattered his heart. Diamond Jozu's extraordinary vitality showed itself then: even with wounds like these, he had not died at once.
"Thunder Swordsman, how's Pops? How's Ace?"
Werther glanced at the fallen giant when he heard him speak. Only then did he remember that he had slashed Jozu's eyes blind.
"Your Pops is dying. As for Ace..."
Werther looked toward Ace. Akainu had already punched through his chest.
"He escaped out to sea with the other pirates, but they might not make it through the Gate of Justice."
"Really? That's great. Ace got away? Then I didn't die for nothing.
"Pops, I'm going on ahead. Sorry I couldn't carry out your last order and escape from Marin—"
Before Diamond Jozu could finish, Werther cut off his head. The pirates near Ace had begun to cry out.
"Rest in peace. You were the toughest opponent I ever faced."
With that, Werther took a bottle of S from his Pocket Watch and poured it into the two dark holes in his chest.
Diamond Jozu had inflicted those wounds in his final counterattack.
Intent Blood had healed them somewhat, but two diamonds were still lodged inside. Werther needed to get them out.
He used Intent Blood to cut open the wounds, dug the diamonds out with his fingers, then poured the rest of the S over them.
If Werther had not reacted in time, those two diamonds would have struck his heart.
