Werther returned Intent Blood to his waist and looked at the Robots he had cut to pieces. His expression darkened.
These Robots were far behind him in both speed and strength, but the fight had revealed something that shocked him.
Every one of the Robots was an expert in hand-to-hand combat. Their timing and the coordination of their attacks were astonishingly precise.
The Robots' moves were largely the same, though. They had probably been programmed.
Compared with the Marines' Pacifistas, however, the Robots' fighting ability was on another level entirely.
If not for the limitations of their materials and power sources, the Robots would have been formidable.
Werther also examined the Mechanical Animals and discovered that they were different from the Robots.
The Robots were made entirely of metal, while the Mechanical Animals were creatures that had been modified after birth.
The sight of these Mechanical Creatures made Werther think. The Tower of Passage had to be ancient, so where had this advanced technology come from?
It seemed the only way to find out was to investigate the source of the alarm.
Before long, Werther and the others reached their destination. In the distance stood a pitch-black Iron Fortress.
There was no doubt that this steel behemoth had sounded the alarm.
Werther surveyed it and frowned. Apart from a massive metal gate at the front, the Iron Fortress was sealed tight.
"Looks like I'll have to force my way in. I'll test its defenses first. Wait here."
Werther slowly approached the Iron Fortress while Tuski and Anita stayed where they were.
As soon as Werther drew near, the Iron Fortress let out another piercing alarm. A row of long, black cannon barrels emerged from its walls, all aimed at him.
Werther had never had so many cannons trained on him.
