Doffy was taking an afternoon nap on the King's Plateau when a Den Den Mushi woke him. Still bleary-eyed, he snapped awake the moment he saw which one it was.
He picked up the Den Den Mushi.
"Werther, how did it go? Don't tell me you're already done. You really are one of the world's best assassins."
Werther was sitting on the roof of a house with a spread of food beside him, enjoying one local dish after another. He watched Marines stream in and out of the building across from him and sighed.
“The man you wanted dead has probably already been arrested by the Marines. The Island is crawling with them.
What do you want me to do? Let them take him away, or go in and kill the target now?"
At the other end of the call, Doffy shot to his feet. His face darkened.
"The Marines? They caught him? That's bad. Very bad. Werther, kill him as soon as you can. I'm counting on you."
Werther scratched his head.
"Even if you say that, there's not much I can do right now. There's a powerful presence in that building. Whoever it is, they're probably at least as strong as me."
Doffy's pupils contracted. He understood at once how serious this was.
"Probably a Marine Admiral. That man is important enough to warrant one. Taking him down would do the Marines a lot of good, especially for their image with civilians. Looks like Akainu wants to establish his authority quickly.
Can you tell which Admiral it is from their presence, Werther?"
Werther took a huge bite of the Pizza in front of him and chewed with obvious satisfaction.
