The sight before Werther gave him an inexplicable whiff of an adult anime. He could have sworn he had seen this scene somewhere before.
But Werther quickly shook off the thought. This was no time for it. He needed to capture Vegapunk first.
Werther flashed in front of Vegapunk. Just as he was about to seize the greatest scientist in history, he heard something tear through the air behind him.
Not taking any chances, Werther dodged backward. Vegapunk used the opening to put some distance between them and pulled Anita up from where she lay limp on the floor.
Boom! A great axe slammed down in front of Werther, slicing through the iron floor like tofu.
Werther turned to look. A pale, heavyset young man stood there, a conspicuous scar on his face. It was Sentomaru, captain of the Marine Science Unit.
"Thunder Swordsman, you bastard! You killed my men! I'm going to avenge them!"
Werther dug at his ear. He had heard that plenty of times, yet here he was, still alive.
"If you want to fight, fight. Why waste so many words? You've got ten seconds for your last words."
"Ten."
With that, Werther charged straight at Sentomaru. Sentomaru had only just opened his mouth to speak. He had not expected Werther's ten seconds to pass quite so fast.
With no weapon in hand, Sentomaru could only coat his right hand in Armament Haki and try to block Werther's slash.
Unfortunately, his Haki was not strong enough. A master like Garp or Zephyr might have stopped the blade, but Sentomaru could not.
A thin streak of blue light flashed, and half of Sentomaru's arm went flying.
"Argh! Bastard!"
Sentomaru screamed once, then immediately coated his left hand in Armament Haki, looking for a chance to take Werther down.
