Just as the officers aboard the warship were preparing to step in, Loa stopped attacking.

It was not because he had run out of magic power, but because he sensed a threat.

Whoosh!

Loa pushed off the ground and slid across the ice, quickly leaving his original position.

Boom!

Sure enough, the instant he left, a bloodied fist slammed down viciously, shattering the ice and leaving a spiderweb-like crater in the ground.

Having missed its strike, the roaring Silverback Great Ape charged out of the smoke. It raised its fist, its white bones exposed, and let out a frenzied howl as it pounced at Loa again.

In that brief exchange, Loa grasped the results of his attack.

Large patches of the Silverback Great Ape's bright silver fur had been torn away. Layer after layer of skin had frozen and shattered like broken glass, leaving it mangled and exposing the tender muscles beneath. Its chest had been completely frozen, and the wound had sunk inward into a crater as tall as a person. A chunk of flesh had actually been torn off by force! One of its eyes, along with its eyelid, had vanished without a trace, leaving only a dark hollow from which blood gushed endlessly.

Through the layer of ice on the Silverback Great Ape's chest, Loa could even see its writhing internal organs and bones. Clearly, the previous attack had inflicted fatal injuries on it.

Loa's ultimate move, Ice Dragon's Roar, combined with dozens of Ice Bombs, was more than even the king of this island could withstand.

Facing the crazed Silverback Great Ape, Loa had no intention of charging headfirst like Arudo did.

Cold air spread in all directions as Loa quickly formed a suit of Ice Armor over his body. Then he threw himself sideways and rolled across the ground, evading the Silverback Great Ape's desperate strike.

The fist, as thick as a waist, smashed into the ground. The wind it kicked up swept past him, leaving a cut on Loa's face.

"So fast! So strong!"

Loa had no time to think. The Silverback Great Ape's speed and strength had exceeded his expectations. Any hesitation would be fatal. In terms of strength, the Silverback Great Ape was more than ten times stronger than Loa, whose Dragon Body had developed to 0%. In terms of speed, its movement technique resembling Soru was even more despairing.

After landing and steadying himself, Loa raised his hand to activate a skill, but an intense sense of danger struck again. Dragon Body had given him beast-like instincts. Decisively abandoning his attack, Loa used both hands and feet, blasting out four pillars of ice to rapidly rise into the air.

The next second—or perhaps not even a full second later—the four ice pillars were swept apart by a huge furry leg with even its kneecap exposed. It was the Silverback Great Ape. Seeing that it had missed Loa, it spun around and lashed out with a sweeping kick.

Seeing this, Loa canceled his ability and used the momentum to fly upward. Puffing out his cheeks, a dark blue magic circle appeared before him again.

At that moment, the Silverback Great Ape suddenly turned. Its body, carried by inertia, crashed through several large trees before stopping. Then it bent its knees and leaped, its iron fist embodying savagery and fury shooting straight toward Loa.

Swift, fierce, agile, and backed by an incredibly powerful physique—those were the foundations that allowed the Silverback Great Ape to stand at the top of this island.

This entire sequence of movements was so smooth, so natural, and so fast that Loa even felt as though he were facing Kuzan.

He was certain that Ice Dragon's Roar could repel it, but before then, the Silverback Great Ape's iron fist would probably already have landed on him.

After all, ultimate moves always required charging.

On the warship, Zephyr and Kuzan, who had somehow awakened, watched the footage in silence. Loa had truly been driven into a desperate situation. His moves simply could not be unleashed before the Silverback Great Ape's attack reached him. Even if he wanted to form ice blocks to evade using their support, the Silverback Great Ape's speed would show him just how futile that was.

Zephyr wanted badly to order the vice admirals to prioritize rescuing Loa, but his identity as chief instructor would not allow it. All he could do now was clench his fists.

Kuzan still looked calm, without the slightest trace of tension. "Come on, my disciple. Show us the new move you developed over the past month!"

The reason even vice admirals did not want to provoke the Silverback Great Ape was its formidable close-combat strength. It was fast, powerful, and with its size advantage, its attacks were even deadlier than those of an ordinary vice admiral.

What trump card did Loa have that could turn the tables?

"I can't dodge it!"

That was the conclusion Loa reached in an instant.

Facing the Silverback Great Ape's killing attack, Loa pulled his lips into a smile. "I'm not the same person I was a month ago—the one who got knocked out by a single punch!"

Dense blue magic patterns instantly appeared over his body. Yet unlike those he had used before, these magic patterns were so tightly packed that they wrapped around him like a cocoon.

A solid sound of flesh striking flesh rang out. The Silverback Great Ape's fist struck the ice armor around Loa, easily tearing it apart before slamming fiercely into Loa's body.

At that instant, Loa felt as though he had been hit by a high-speed train. He was sent flying by sheer force. Specks of shattered ice lingered in the air, swept along by the airflow into a cylindrical trail.

Boom!

Only after Loa was sent flying did a thunderous explosion erupt from where he had stood. A ring of air blasted violently in every direction, blowing away every piece of shattered ice across the battlefield.

The Silverback Great Ape landed from the air and staggered. Its large blood-covered hand braced against its knee as it steadied itself, panting heavily.

It did not dare perform the chest-beating gesture gorillas used after victory. Its chest was severely injured now, and it had only survived because that thin layer of ice had forcibly frozen the wound shut. It would be hilarious if it was not killed by its enemy, but instead beat itself to death!

From the feedback in its fist, the Silverback Great Ape could determine that countless bones in that little runt's body had snapped with loud cracks. Based on past experience, injuries of that level meant the opponent was definitely dead!

"Loa!"

Zephyr's eyes turned red as he clenched his teeth. He turned to Kuzan, his dangerous and terrifying aura locking tightly onto him. "So this is what you meant by not worrying!"

"Ah la la, you really haven't dulled with age, Teacher." Kuzan still shrugged casually. Even he could feel the threat to his life from Zephyr's current appearance.

However, Kuzan was not worried that Zephyr would attack him, because Loa was not dead.

He paused, then explained before Zephyr completely lost control, "Relax, relax. I tested it before. An attack of this level can't kill that kid."

Was Loa dead? Of course not.

What the Silverback Great Ape had shattered was merely the second layer of Ice Armor around Loa's body.

After the battle, its boiling blood calmed, and its body temperature began to fall. The Silverback Great Ape's vision darkened. It knew that once the ice melted, its wounds would begin bleeding again. No creature on the island could survive injuries like these. It would soon die.

But just as it prepared to peacefully await death, a furious shout suddenly came from above. "Ice Dragon's Iron Fist!"

Thud!

Before it could react, the Silverback Great Ape was struck in the head by the sudden attack and sent flying. Countless blocks of ice and rocks were smashed and crushed. The forest was like a sheet of paper, with a giant eraser carving a line through it.

Shaking its groggy head, the Silverback Great Ape excitedly climbed back up. It sensed it—the little runt who had inflicted fatal injuries upon it.

He was still alive!

It roared at the rapidly charging Loa, bent its legs, kicked off, and shot toward him.

By now, Loa's appearance had changed drastically.

His body no longer had smooth human skin. Instead, it was covered in precisely arranged blue dragon scales. Pale bone spikes grew from his elbows and knees, radiating killing intent. The nails on his hands had become long and sharp, like dragon claws. A pair of broad, bat-like fleshy wings spread from his back, flapping to stir the air and keep him flying.

With a pair of golden vertical pupils fixed on the Silverback Great Ape, Loa met it head-on. His recovery and defense were no joke now. So long as his vital points were not destroyed, a few broken bones would not affect his fighting.

"Come on! Who's afraid of who?!"

Facing the charging Silverback Great Ape, Loa roared and rushed straight at it.

Boom!

One large fist and one small fist collided, and a thunderous muffled boom echoed through the forest. The Silverback Great Ape took a step back, staring at Loa in shock.

Although his aura had changed greatly, this human was undoubtedly that little runt from before. What had happened to him in just a few dozen seconds? How had his strength become greater than its own?

Before it could think further, Loa suddenly vanished from where he stood.

Roar!

The Silverback Great Ape opened its mouth in a furious bellow, then swung a backhand punch at Loa.

"You can actually still sense my movements?" Loa looked in surprise at the fist blocking his claws, then his face filled with fighting spirit. "Then let's see who falls first!"

His claws left afterimages in the air, while the force of the fists made the wind howl. Loa tore a chunk of flesh from the Silverback Great Ape's arm with one claw, only to be struck by a fist and sent rolling away while coughing blood. Kicking off the ground, Loa charged forward again without changing expression.

Impacts and tearing sounds rang out in alternation. Blood scattered across the ice, hissing as it gave off white smoke. Some belonged to Loa, and some to the Silverback Great Ape. If an arm broke, they kicked with their legs. If a leg broke, they bit with their teeth and rammed with their heads. One human and one beast—no, two beasts—fought in the most primitive and unrestrained manner.

Only when one side fell would this battle end.

Inside the monitoring room, Zephyr stared blankly at the blue figure on the screen and the silver giant ape covered in spreading patches of red.

After a long while, he turned around and asked uncertainly, "Is that Loa?"

"Yes, Teacher. Have you forgotten? Loa is an Ice Dragon Fruit user. Once it's developed, his close-combat ability won't be weaker than anyone's."

"That's not what I'm concerned about, okay? I'm asking why he isn't using his freezing abilities to fight, and is instead being so barbaric." Zephyr pondered for a while before settling on the word barbaric.

Kuzan merely shrugged. "I told you already. His control over his fruit ability isn't good enough yet. Once he enters this state, Loa can't use long-range attacks."
