"Xide, is Ye Chen here?"
After coming ashore, Momonga walked a short distance and looked over the unusually quiet town. A hint of doubt crossed his face, and he turned to his deputy.
Xide was Momonga's deputy and a Cloud-Cloud Fruit user. He nodded and answered respectfully, "Three days ago, something strange happened at a nearby Fifth Unit branch base. Someone held a memorial for the people who died on Ohara right outside the base. Before leaving, he also left a severed head. It belonged to Vice Admiral Strawberry.
"The Marines at the branch confirmed that Ghost Hand Ye Chen was behind it. They reported it to us immediately and sent people to follow his Pirate crew. They discovered that his destination was Orange Town."
"A memorial for the dead of Ohara?"
Momonga stopped abruptly. His face darkened as a scene from ten years ago flashed through his mind.
Back then, Momonga had taken part in the Buster Call on Ohara alongside Strawberry, Aokiji, Akainu, and Kizaru. The five Vice Admirals had reduced Ohara to ruins. Apart from Robin, every civilian on the island had died. Olvia and Ye Chen had survived too, of course, but Momonga had not known that at the time.
Momonga did not regret it. Yet whenever he remembered the desperate cries of those people before they died, a heavy feeling settled in his chest.
To uphold the Marines' justice and prevent the world from learning the truth the scholars of Ohara had uncovered through their study of the Poneglyphs, Momonga did not believe the Marines had done anything wrong. Many innocent people had been caught up in it, but that could not be helped. The only problem was that the job had not been thorough. Some had slipped through the net.
Besides the Devil Child
