"From now on, whenever you go out, you have to tell Spoon Aunt. If you dare sneak out again, watch out—I'll break your legs."
Spoon Aunt gave Ye Chen a fierce scolding, then grabbed him by the ear and tossed him back into his room.
Ye Chen knew Spoon Aunt had a sharp tongue but a soft heart. She sounded harsh, but she was not actually very strict with him. Perhaps it was because he was still young, or perhaps because he had escaped from Ohara. However, after lying down again, Ye Chen had a nightmare as soon as he fell asleep.
He dreamed that the three sisters had been taken to the Holy Land and locked in a pitch-black prison, where they suffered the Dragon People's torment every day. They were even forced into brutal fights against other pirates and wild beasts in a huge arena, while those inhuman Dragon People laughed wantonly from the stands. The girls were beaten bloody every day. Other than being locked in freezing cells, they could only entertain the Dragon People through one bloody performance after another. Like toys, they had neither dignity nor freedom, spending their lives struggling on the brink of death, wishing they were dead.
"No..."
Ye Chen broke out in a cold sweat and suddenly sat up in bed. Though those girls had nothing to do with him, he still could not bring himself to ignore whether they lived or died.
The next day, after breakfast, Spoon Aunt went out to buy groceries. She repeatedly warned Ye Chen not to sneak out, and Ye Chen readily agreed. Yet before noon, he jumped out through the back window. After leaving the bar, his legs carried him uncontrollably toward the auction house.
"Hm?"
After reaching town and walking only a short distance, Ye Chen suddenly noticed a strange sight. The pedestrians ahead stirred in agitation and hurried to the roadside. Quite a few even dropped stiffly to their knees. Ye Chen frowned and took a few steps forward. More and more people were kneeling along the street: wealthy people dressed in gold and silver, government officials, and pirates who had come to Sabaody from the Grand Line. Without exception, they all knelt by the roadside. Ye Chen frowned deeply. Even when the emperor of the Great Qing Dynasty traveled, there had never been such a grand display. The common people could gather to watch, but the emperor could not possibly demand that every passerby kneel to welcome him.
Who had arrived? Such a huge spectacle—and the people kneeling on the ground all looked terrible. Some were panicked, some filled with fear, and some desperately tucked their heads down, terrified of being seen. Quite a few young women had even begun to sob.
After a while, Ye Chen finally saw a man surrounded by guards. He wore a bubble over his head, had a small handlebar mustache, and rode atop a powerful slave. Like livestock, the slave crawled forward on his knees step by step. Sweat streamed down his body from exhaustion, yet he did not dare make a sound. The slave was enormous, built like an elephant, but he allowed that man to ride on his back without resisting. Deep fear even showed in his eyes.
Crack! The slave moved a little too slowly, and a merciless whip lashed fiercely across his body. The shadow of the whip flashed, spraying a glaring streak of blood. The slave could only grit his teeth and crawl forward on his knees with all his strength.
"Damn, these Dragon People really are arrogant." Beside Ye Chen stood a tall pirate. The pirate cursed under his breath, then immediately knelt down by the roadside as well.
"These are the Dragon People?" Ye Chen was startled. Before the Dragon Person even reached him, he waved a hand and stopped the procession. He turned to look at a pirate kneeling by the roadside. "Put a collar on that one. He looks quite strong. Send the one I'm riding to the auction house and sell him immediately. What a nuisance—he can't even walk steadily." With that, the Dragon Person got down from the slave with the guards' assistance.
"Hey, you, come here..."
The butler pointed at the pirate kneeling by the road and shouted impatiently. The pirate suddenly sprang to his feet and ran for it. The Dragon Person swiftly pulled a pistol from his waist. Bang! He fired at the fleeing pirate's back. The pirate staggered and fell to his knees. More than a dozen guards rushed over at once, and before long, they had fitted a collar around the pirate's neck in full view of the many pedestrians.
Ye Chen clenched his fists in fury, wishing he could rush over and punch this Dragon Person's head apart. Just as he turned to leave, the Dragon Person's gaze landed on him, and his face immediately darkened. Someone beside Ye Chen hurriedly reminded him, "Ghost, hurry up and kneel."
Shakky happened to be shopping on the street and passed by nearby. When she saw Ye Chen standing in the road, she was startled. The Dragon Person was standing not far from Ye Chen, so Shakky did not dare rush over directly.
"Ghost, why aren't you kneeling? Don't you know that when you see a Dragon Person, lowly trash like you should kneel?" The Dragon Person's voice grew colder and colder, and even his hands clenched angrily into fists.
"Lord Saint Rosward, please calm your anger." The butler hurriedly tried to soothe him, then strode toward Ye Chen in a rage. "Ghost, do you have a death wish? Kneel before Lord Saint Rosward at once!"
"Hmph... You want me to kneel? None of you are worthy." Ye Chen's teeth ground loudly as he glared fiercely at Saint Rosward, his eyes seeming to spit fire. Even Golden Lion had only made Ye Chen kneel because of Olvia.
He was not afraid of suffering, but making him kneel? In their dreams!
In his previous life, Ye Chen had been the third young master of the Ye Family and a direct descendant of the famous Yehe Nara clan in the capital. No one had ever dared act tyrannically before him. Even after coming to this world, the pride in Ye Chen's bones had not changed in the slightest. Not even Golden Lion had frightened him. As for a Dragon Person, it was already good enough that Ye Chen had not drawn his sword and killed him.
"No, no..." The pirate wearing the collar struggled desperately. He was punched and kicked, yet stubbornly refused to submit. Before long, he broke free and fled into the distance. Saint Rosward glanced back, then waved at the butler beside him. Bang! Without the slightest hesitation, the butler forcefully pressed the button on the collar. The pirate had not run far when, with a boom, his head exploded. Scarlet brains splattered everywhere, and even his sturdy skull was blown to pieces.
The bloody, horrific scene turned many timid pedestrians pale. Quite a few bent over and vomited up last night's meal.
"Ghost, what did you just say? If you have the guts, say it again." Saint Rosward sneered as he aimed his pistol at Ye Chen.
"Damn it." Shakky gritted her teeth in anger and threw down the package in her hands. Just as she was about to rush over, Ye Chen unexpectedly made his move.
Both swords left their sheaths at once. A cold flash glinted, and two wolf-like flames of fury suddenly burst from Ye Chen's icy eyes. He pushed off the ground with the tip of his foot and shouted coldly, "You want me to kneel? Who the hell do you think you are? Soru!"
