Rait was a first-rate swordsman. Just as he moved to attack Hancock, Zoro leaped into his path like a diving eagle. Kitetsu and Yubashiri flashed with a cold gleam, and his fierce presence was like that of a wolf or tiger. Staring straight at Rait, Zoro said, "You're a swordsman, right? Then I'll be your opponent!"

Kuina was about to make her move, but Zoro beat her to it. She stamped her foot in frustration, then turned toward Hals, captain of the Sixth Division.

Hals was a short, stocky man. Despite his height, he was massive, with a round belly, broad shoulders, and a thick back. He looked like an enormous ball of meat.

He carried an iron pole and had the strength of an ox. After sizing Kuina up, Hals laughed dismissively and waved the pole. "Little girl, one swing from this will probably turn you into mincemeat. How could you possibly be a match for me?"

"You talk too much!"

Kuina drew Wado Ichimonji in a flash of cold light and sprang into the air. Her white clothes fluttered as her blade streaked forward with breathtaking speed. By the time Hals realized it was almost upon him, all he could do was stumble back a step.

He was quick, but Kuina was quicker. Her blade flashed forward in a sudden thrust. Hals cried out in pain as blood spurted from his shoulder.

Kuina had moved so fast that even after she landed, Hals still felt as though he were dreaming.

His eyes widened. He rubbed them hard, unable to believe that this seemingly delicate woman possessed such exquisite swordsmanship. It was enough to make him despair.

"Hah!"

With a roar, Hals raised his pole high and charged. He came on like some savage behemoth, fearsome at first glance.
