After devising a grand plan to make a fortune, Avilan waved his hand and immediately issued his orders. Food was the greatest guarantee of survival in troubled times. Since Despair Fortress did not lack grain, they could plant some to sell as well.
After the two had bowed and withdrawn, Avilan sat at the head of the room, quietly lost in thought.
"How should I teach martial skills and magic?" Avilan rubbed his head, somewhat troubled.
He did not need to painstakingly train in martial skills at all. He only had to find a skill book and click to use it, then gradually become familiar with it before using it in battle. But for people of this other world, martial skills required years upon years of practice, while magic came through bit-by-bit meditation.
With a soft sigh, Avilan knew his own limits well. He was good at playing games, but teaching martial skills was absolutely beyond him.
Just then, Miuo came jogging over, dropped to one knee, and reported loudly, "Lord Avilan, I have persuaded my uncle to come and join us!"
Avilan was delighted.
Miuo's uncle, Carter, was a Fourth-Rank Great Swordmaster. Of course, a Fourth-Rank Great Swordmaster was nothing more than a minor figure to Avilan, not worth his excitement. But Carter held another identity in the Munk Kingdom: he was a sword instructor.
A sword instructor, as the name implied, was a scholar who taught swordsmanship.
The reason Miuo's Catfolk had so many swordsmen was entirely thanks to his uncle Carter's instruction.
After joining Despair Fortress, Miuo had discovered that the magic essence here was incredibly dense. The speed of training martial skills was ten to twenty percent faster than elsewhere. Moreover, he had personally witnessed the power of several major bosses in Despair Fortress. Compared to suffering oppression in the Munk Kingdom, he might as well become a member of Despair Fortress and live in luxury.
Avilan immediately rose to his feet, a smile spreading across his face. Extremely excited, he called to Miuo and strode toward the castle gates.
Mole Xiu, who had originally wanted to report on some matters, greeted Avilan and closely followed behind him, deeply puzzled. Someone was coming to join them?
Who could possibly be worthy of the Supreme Lord personally going out to welcome them?!
He remembered clearly that Lady Zhou Yu had repeatedly emphasized the Supreme Lord's might. But who could possibly deserve a personal audience with him?
Yet judging by Lord Avilan's expression, he was clearly somewhat excited. Just what distinguished expert was coming?!
Mole Xiu could not help feeling greatly expectant.
The instant he stepped out of the manor gates, Avilan narrowed his eyes slightly. What a lecherous old man.
With shifty brows and rat-like eyes, he stooped forward, his beady gaze constantly wandering over the passing maids.
The maids of Despair Fortress were all Level 1 creatures. They possessed no combat strength and were even weaker than ordinary women. Their main duty was housekeeping, serving the various lords residing in Despair Fortress.
Every one of these maids had been designed by that lecherous fellow Liu Lu. Each was a peerless beauty, and with their curvaceous, revealing maid uniforms, any normal man could not help stopping to take a look. But this lecherous old man was even more revolting; he looked as if he were about to drool.
Miuo, standing beside him, was so embarrassed he wished he could find a hole and crawl into it.
"This is your uncle?" Avilan asked, somewhat speechless.
"Y-yes." Miuo had the urge to shout that he did not know him, but in the end, he still nodded.
"Interesting!" Avilan smiled. "It seems Mr. Carter likes the maids here very much!"
"That's right, they truly are incomparably beautiful, really..." Carter muttered with a lecherous grin. Mole Xiu, standing nearby, could not bear to watch any longer and raised his fist, preparing to teach the old man a lesson.
"How presumptuous, behaving so disgracefully before the Supreme Lord!"
A sharp glint flashed through Carter's eyes, which had been watching the beauties. The cane planted on the ground slowly lifted, then jabbed Mole Xiu at an exquisite angle, effortlessly flipping him over.
Avilan's eyes lit up. This was not a martial skill, merely an attack using the principles of mechanics in the simplest manner. It seemed the old fellow truly had some skill.
"How presumptuous! You dare behave so disgracefully before Lord Avilan? Kneel!" Arthur, standing not far away, flew into a rage at the old man's misconduct. To the old guard of Despair Fortress, any act that provoked Lord Avilan was an unforgivable crime.
The smug Carter suddenly felt a powerful force wash over him. It was utterly beyond his ability to resist. The next second, he fell helplessly to his knees, his entire head pressed to the ground. He could only stare fearfully at Avilan's leather shoes.
"This old servant Carter greets the Lord of Despair!"
Carter was an old fox, and though terrified beyond measure, he still called out with utmost respect.
Avilan laughed heartily, looking at the old man before him with great interest. Miuo also fell to his knees in panic, begging Avilan for forgiveness.
"Lord Avilan, such a rebellious wretch deserves death." Arthur strode over, Killing Intent surging around him.
"Please spare his life, Supreme Lord! This subordinate failed to teach my uncle proper etiquette. Please consider that my uncle came from deep mountains and wild lands and does not understand etiquette or rules. Spare my uncle, I beg you." Miuo knelt on the ground and cried respectfully, casually belittling the Munk Kingdom until it was worth less than a copper.
If Avilan continued to pursue the matter, it would instead make him seem narrow-minded.
"All right, Arthur. Ignorance is no crime."
Avilan personally reached out and helped Carter to his feet.
"Thank you, Supreme Lord, for sparing this old servant's life!"
Carter rose, his face carrying a trace of restraint. Clearly, Arthur's earlier shout had frightened him badly.
"I heard that you are a sword instructor, Carter. Could you tell me about it?"
Avilan was delighted, hoping to find a way to teach martial skills through this.
Carter respectfully returned the bow and replied uneasily, "I would not dare refuse your command."
Standing beside Arthur, Carter's body had become somewhat stiff, and his pupils contracted violently. The instincts of a Fourth-Rank Great Swordmaster screamed madly at him: Leave this place at once!!
Leave this man!
The farther away, the better!
Ever since that initial furious shout, this broad-shouldered, imposing, majestic man had not paid him another glance. Yet Carter still felt his scalp tingle and his whole body turn cold, as though he were standing alone beside an unparalleled ferocious beast!
That feeling was far too terrifying!
Even when he had once followed the Tigerfolk's great general and fought bloody battles in every direction, he had scarcely encountered such a horrifying existence!
Ordinary people naturally could not sense that unimaginably powerful Killing Intent, but to an old soldier whose cultivation had reached the rank of Fourth-Rank Great Swordmaster, it was like a bright lamp in the dead of night, dazzling and impossible to ignore!
Of course, that was also because Carter had not restrained the aura around his body.
Before long, led by Avilan, Carter entered Despair Fortress.
Meanwhile, many surrounding onlooking races erupted into commotion.
Before Carter had arrived, Miuo had been constantly building him up. Carter knew the current situation in Despair Fortress very well.
