History

The clan begins the story divided by internal factional conflict. When Xiao Ning accuses Xiao Yun of stealing a Yellow-tier mid-level fighting technique, the First Elder presses for punishment despite the absence of anyone who saw Xiao Yun enter Xiao Ning's room. Xiao Zhan refuses to condemn his son without an investigation, while Xun Er's alibi ends the immediate dispute. 1

Xiao Yun's public defeat of Xiao Ning reverses his standing among the clan disciples. The First Elder subsequently discovers that Xiao Yun can withstand his Da Dou Shi-level attack, prompting the elder to abandon open retaliation and caution Xiao Ning against provoking him further. 6 7 8

The conflict with the Jia Lie Clan becomes a major turning point. After Xiao Yun kills Jia Lie Bi, Jia Lie Ao, and several Jia Lie experts, the Jia Lie Clan loses much of its leadership. The Second and Third Elders expect the Xiao Clan to take over its businesses and medicinal-herb trade, potentially doubling the clan's strength and making it Wu Tan City's leading clan. 15 16

The clan refuses Nalan Yanran's attempt to dissolve her engagement with Xiao Yan in exchange for a fourth-grade pill. Its elders argue that signing would humiliate the Xiao Clan, while Xiao Yun's intervention prevents the Misty Cloud Sect delegation from forcing the issue. 17 18

Once Xiao Yun publicly reveals himself as a Dou Emperor, Wu Tan City's factions begin seeking the Xiao Clan's favor. The Mittel Auction House repeatedly approaches the clan for cooperation, and the Nalan Clan personally seeks reconciliation after Nalan Yanran's actions. 31 34 37

Internal Politics

The First Elder's branch initially uses its influence to target Xiao Zhan's family. Its attempted punishment of Xiao Yun over the alleged theft, as well as its control of the apothecary, establish a clear rivalry between the elder faction and the Clan Leader's household. 1 2

This balance collapses once Xiao Yun demonstrates strength beyond the elders' expectations. The First Elder shifts from demanding punishment for Xiao Ning's defeat to quietly defending Xiao Yun during the Jia Lie crisis, largely out of fear that Jia Lie Bi has provoked an opponent beyond his ability to handle. 7 10 14

The Second and Third Elders likewise change from criticizing Xiao Yun to openly flattering him after he eliminates the Jia Lie Clan's leadership. Their reversal reflects the clan's new dependence on Xiao Yun's power and reputation. 14 16
