Background / History

The Wolf King commanded a coordinated pack of more than one hundred wolves against a group of Human Race survivors near the iron-rich mountain later claimed by the Red Iron Tribe. Though it possessed Earth Immortal cultivation, it initially remained behind the fighting to direct the pack, preferring to avoid unnecessary injury that could endanger its authority. Feng Xu disrupted the pack with an avalanche of logs and boulders, allowing the humans to counterattack and forcing the Wolf King to withdraw. 11

This Earth Immortal pack leader was distinct from the Heavenly Demon Wolf King, later revealed as Commander Ling. Although its territory fell under the greater demon king’s jurisdiction, it did not belong to the Heavenly Demon Wolf clan. 18 67

It continued stalking the developing Red Iron Tribe, probing the settlement’s defenses while Feng Xu prepared trenches, palisades, spear formations, and iron weapons. The Wolf King later confronted Tie Song and Feng Yuqi personally, overwhelming both before the Eagle King wounded it and carried them away. 12 14

The pack sought not only human prey but also the remains of the hundred-zhang wild boar held by the humans. Its original plan was to eliminate the humans and take both them and the boar as food. Feng Xu exploited this motive by placing boar meat outside the camp, drawing the wolves into an attack before they could resist the bait. 15

During the wolf pack’s night assault, it deliberately withheld its own strength while ordinary wolves attacked the fortified camp. The pack lost more than thirty wolves killed and roughly ten more wounded, but the Wolf King avoided direct combat and remained the central threat to the settlement. 15

Scouts subsequently located the pack beyond two mountain ridges. Its full population exceeded five hundred wolves, including roughly one hundred large wolves over ten zhang long, as well as younger and smaller adults. The pack’s hunting pressure had also driven the future Lukun Tribe to hide underground and severely restricted its access to food. 16 17

Feng Xu united the Red Iron and Lukun Tribes to eliminate the pack. When human trebuchets, bombs, and javelins devastated the wolves, the Wolf King recognized the Human Race’s rapid development as a danger. It narrowly escaped Feng Xu’s Heavenly Net and Earthly Web, intending to warn the Heavenly Demon Wolf King. 18

During the pursuit, the Wolf King recognized that the humans’ weak cultivation and temporarily depleted treasure-user created an opportunity for a counterattack. Its followers nevertheless refused to fight, forcing it to continue retreating. It hoped to cross into Ape Demon territory and invoke the Heavenly Demon Wolf King’s name to obtain passage and protection from pursuit, while fearing that the White Ape might exploit its weakened pack. 19

The surviving pack was driven into a prepared valley ambush. Feng Xi and Iron Mountain pierced the Wolf King’s hind legs with spears, crippling it. The Eagle King later wounded its neck with wind blades, and its damaged hind-leg bones finally shattered as it tried to rise. Feng Xu captured the immobilized Wolf King with the golden net. 19

Feng Xu judged it too cunning and dangerous to keep alive. After the Eagle King claimed its internal organs, Feng Xi executed the Wolf King. Its remains were subsequently used for the Wind-Fire Tribe’s construction and cultivation projects. 20 23

The Wolf King’s corpse was formally allocated to the Wind-Fire Tribe, together with sixty wolf pelts and the captured cubs. After its organs had been removed, Feng Xu stored the body in his Dharma Treasure. 20

Appearance

An immense wolf demon whose size dwarfed ordinary members of its pack.

Personality

The Wolf King was intelligent, cautious, and highly pragmatic. Rather than charging into battle despite its superior cultivation, it commanded from behind the pack and avoided injury that might invite challenges to its leadership. 11

It adapted quickly to unfamiliar human weapons. During the decisive battle, it ordered the wolves to spread out after only two rounds of trebuchet fire and repeatedly used howls to suppress panic among its followers. 18

Its caution did not prevent anger from compromising its judgment. As human weapons devastated the pack, it became determined to stop the Human Race’s development and failed to notice how few battle wolves remained behind it. 18

However, its confidence collapsed alongside its pack. After the humans’ sustained attacks, the surviving wolves refused to obey orders to counterattack, leaving the Wolf King unable to do more than flee. 19

Once escape became impossible, it gave up struggling. It later closed its eyes calmly before Feng Xi’s execution blow, accepting defeat under the Great Wilderness’s principle that the strong survived and the weak perished rather than begging for mercy. 19 20

Earth Immortal Cultivation

The Wolf King was an Earth Immortal-level demon, vastly stronger than ordinary Human Race warriors and wolves. 11

• Directed the pack’s withdrawal when Feng Xu’s bluff suggested additional Human Race reinforcements. 11

Story Role / Major Arcs

Threat to the Red Iron Tribe

The Wolf King’s pack endangered the iron mine and the newly established Red Iron Tribe, forcing Feng Xu to prioritize fortifications, iron weapon production, and military preparation over immediate mining. 11 12

The threat also extended to nearby settlements. The Lukun Tribe’s inability to hunt safely demonstrated that the pack endangered more than the mining camp and helped motivate Feng Xu to organize a joint extermination campaign. 16 17

Siege and Night Raid

It maintained pressure around the camp while ordinary wolves tested the defenses. Its decision not to personally join the night raid preserved its strength but allowed the Human Race to inflict major casualties on the pack. 15

Decisive Battle with the Wolf Pack

The Wolf King led the remaining wolves against Feng Xu’s artillery force. It adapted to the trebuchets and escaped the Heavenly Net and Earthly Web, but lost most of its pack to bombs, javelins, and close combat. 18

Its intended warning to the Heavenly Demon Wolf King made its escape a potential danger beyond the immediate battlefield. Feng Xu therefore continued the pursuit rather than accepting the destruction of most of the pack as sufficient. 18 19

Encirclement and Death

Driven into Feng Xu’s valley trap, the Wolf King was crippled, captured, and executed. Its death ended the wolf pack’s threat and supplied the Human Race with valuable materials, blood, wolf cubs, and a massive skeleton. 19 20 23

The campaign ended without human fatalities, although more than a dozen allied participants suffered minor injuries. Feng Xu ordered a quick death for the captured pack leader rather than keeping it alive as an ongoing risk. 20

Legacy

• Its blood became a principal component of Feng Xu’s Blood Pool, where Human Race cultivators fused and stabilized beast bloodlines. 23 24
• The Blood Pool supported Feng Sui’s successful breakthrough to Earth Immortal, establishing a method for strengthening the tribe beyond its earlier cultivation limits. 24
• Its skeleton was converted into a large fortified residence at the Wind-Fire Tribe’s former site. 23 43
• Its essence blood later became one of the two available sources for Feng Xu’s Bloodline Secret Art and Battle Mark system. 32
• Together with Pig Demon essence blood, it limited the tribe’s initial transformation-type Battle Marks to wolf or pig demonization and influenced the divine abilities that could be awakened. Feng Xu recommended cultivation-method marks until stronger bloodline materials became available. 32
• More than twenty wolf cubs discovered during the campaign were taken back to the Red Iron Tribe under Little White’s supervision. 18
