Heiduo had no choice but to get up at four thirty, make breakfast and watch the Pokémon eat it, finish their morning training, then finally, after all that, reach seven o'clock and board the Garchomp-brand aircraft for Mahogany Town, which lay beyond nearly half a plain of farmland.

Umbreon was still asleep.

Though it woke up as soon as they took to the sky.

The fellow hid in Heiduo's arms, trembling all over.

Meanwhile, Heiduo watched the scene unfolding in the patchwork fields below.

The Rattata of this world were like field mice from his previous life. They loved ravaging crops. Having never encountered human society, they had no idea what they could touch and what they could not. If food tasted good, they ate it. Chase one away, and a whole group would come along.
