Background

Sun Wukong originated on Flower-Fruit Mountain as a Stone Monkey. After arriving in the Western Ox Continent, he was struck unconscious and received an altered account of the Journey to the West in his mind. The experience made him wary of the fate being arranged around him. He sought eternal life on Spiritual Terrace Square Inch Mountain, where Bodhi Patriarch accepted him as a disciple, gave him the surname Sun, and named him Wukong. 184 185

Before beginning cultivation, Bo Huang had extracted part of Wukong's innate Law of Battle Origin. This left his foundation incomplete and prevented normal progress in longevity cultivation. Bodhi Patriarch responded by sacrificing a Bodhi Seed, vital blood, and part of his own power to reshape Wukong's foundation. Wukong thereafter destroyed Bo Huang's split soul in his Sea of Consciousness and resolved to recognize Bodhi Patriarch as his master regardless of any schemes behind their meeting. 185 186

Bodhi Patriarch taught him the Somersault Cloud and Seventy-Two Transformations before sending him back to Flower-Fruit Mountain. There, Wukong killed the Chaos Demon King for bullying his monkey subjects and began his rise as a powerful figure in the Three Realms. 187

Lu Jun's Solar True Fire and Yangtian Blood Scattering Saber burn Wukong, sever his Golden Cudgel, and demonstrate the gap between him and a Primordial Golden Immortal.
