Background and History

Liu Erlong initially remains emotionally attached to Yu Xiaogang, despite his long absence and feelings for another person. Learning of Gu Zhi's Ultimate Fire and its potential to advance her Fire Dragon Martial Soul, she decides to let go of her fixation on the Grandmaster and seek a path toward the Titled Douluo realm herself. 9

She waits along Gu Zhi's route in the Star Dou Great Forest and witnesses him pursuing a ten-thousand-year soul beast for treasure chests. Impressed by his speed and courage, she approaches him directly and introduces herself. 13 Gu Zhi initially distrusts her due to her future association with Tang San's group, but accepts her proposal to travel together once the treasure-chest system reveals the advantages of forming a team. They begin calling each other “Sister Liu” and “Xiao Gu.” 14

During their expedition, Liu Erlong becomes Gu Zhi's principal protector while also sharing in the rewards from their chest hunting. A moonlit drinking session leads to an intimate encounter between them.
