Meanwhile, on Roy's side.
Amid the faint mist, Roy's face emerged from behind the vanished golden skull mask, a relieved smile on his fairly handsome face.
"Unfortunately, you won't be catching her."
Opposite Roy, densely packed black-robed wizards stood in a row, all raising their wands in readiness. Everyone present had clearly witnessed Roy's two waves of chained Killing Curses. Facing Roy, who appeared harmless, not a single one of them could help worrying that those terrifying Killing Curses might fall upon them next.
Walter White stepped out from the crowd and stopped opposite Roy. Realizing he had been played, Walter glared at Roy and questioned him viciously.
"Where is that girl? Where is she!!!!"
Roy smiled disdainfully, utterly unconcerned by Walter's death threats.
"It's over. You'll never catch her again."
Roy said this with relief, then suddenly spread his arms wide before the crowd.
Roy's sudden movement startled the dozens of wizards opposite him. Thinking he was about to use another Killing Curse, they frantically raised their wands and aimed them at him.
Walter's eyes widened. He understood now. Roy had drawn all their attention away to cover Aisling's escape. For that, Roy had even been willing to completely give up his own chance of survival.
Realizing they might have lost Aisling for good, Walter glared furiously and demanded in despair, facing Roy's relieved expression.
"Why?! This clearly has nothing to do with you! Why would you throw away your own life for that girl?! What did she give you?!"
"Ha ha—" Roy laughed at Walter's furious questioning, and he laughed happily.
"She doesn't need to give me anything. I'm simply doing the right thing."
"Right? How laughable! You killed dozens of people for a remnant of the Wizard Purist Party, and that's what you call the right thing?"
