Putting the Team Together

"Oh, right, you're a Metamorphmagus, aren't you? Can you show me how convincing your transformations are?"

"Heh, that's easy."

Tonks grinned and, under Roy and Aisling's curious gazes, began molding the skin of her face like putty.

Before long, two identical Roy Smiths stood in the room. Apart from a slight difference in expression, they looked exactly alike. Roy stared at Tonks, who stared right back, and clicked his tongue in amazement.

"That's incredible. You can even copy my build."

"Heh, don't underestimate my Transfiguration."

Grinning at Roy's praise, Tonks thumped her newly transformed chest and laughed confidently.

But the moment Tonks spoke, Roy frowned. He glanced back at Aisling. When she shrugged, he turned to Tonks and asked awkwardly,

"Can't you change your voice?"

Tonks shook her head and raised an eyebrow at Roy's hesitation.

"No. Being a Metamorphmagus only changes my appearance, not my internal anatomy. But don't worry. When I interned at the Auror Office over the summer, Kingsley taught me a few tricks for disguising my voice. I can do several different voices now, men's and women's. That's more than enough to hide my identity."

Roy smiled with interest and motioned for Tonks to demonstrate.

"Ahem—I'm Roy Smith." (deep, gravelly voice)

"Ahem—I'm Roy Smith." (cutesy voice)

"I'm Roy—#&%." (squeaky voice)

"I'm—"

"All right, all right..."

Roy cut off Tonks's ridiculous performance, shooting a glare at Aisling, who was laughing her head off in the corner. He gave up on the subject.

"Forget it. I'll make you a voice changer later. Now, let me explain your assignment."

Roy pulled over a blackboard neatly covered with the operation plan. He tapped it with his wand and began explaining Tonks's role in earnest.
