Background / History

Ye Chen transmigrated to the Douluo Continent during the Unrivaled Tang Sect era. Initially lacking both a Martial Soul and a system, he received the Douluo Nine-Choose-Five System and selected top-tier Twin Martial Souls, a guardian, Dragon King-era technology, the Creator God’s Inheritance, and a random reward. The final reward blocked Tang San’s perception of the Douluo Plane, preventing the Sea God from monitoring or interfering with him. 1

His first Martial Souls were the Three-Eyed Golden Lion and Heavenly Snow Woman. The system also gave him Heavenly Refinement, Battle Armor, and Soul Spirit technologies. His situation became visible to multiple eras when the Sky Screen began livestreaming his actions and broadcasting chat messages from its viewers. 1

While traveling through the Star Dou Forest, Ye Chen met Bibi Dong after the system transported her ten thousand years into the future as his Dao Protector. Once he revealed Spirit Hall’s eventual destruction and Qian Renxue’s fate, Bibi Dong chose to remain with him and later became his teacher, residing in his sea of consciousness. 2 4

Ye Chen resonated with the Emperor Auspicious Beast by placing his forehead against her Eye of Destiny. The encounter gave him the power of fate and his first three soul rings. He subsequently entered Shrek Academy, where he became a prominent but divisive freshman through his refusal to submit to Zhou Yi’s intimidation and his repeated criticism of the academy’s practices. 3 10 11

During the Freshman Assessment, Ye Chen led Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao to victory. He defeated Dai Huabin’s team alone, including the Hell White Tiger Martial Soul Fusion Skill, and was recognized as Class One’s spiritual leader before formally becoming its monitor. 26 28 30

After reaching Rank 40, Ye Chen left Shrek City for the Far North to pursue the Ice Empress and Snow Empress. He successfully absorbed the Ice Empress’s torso soul bone, recovered the Snow Empress from the God-Sealing Platform, and gained both rulers as Soul Spirits. 30 35 36

During the Snow Empress’s rescue, Electrolux entered Ye Chen’s Sea of Spirit. Ye Chen welcomed his arrival as an important advantage for a future journey to the Sun Moon Empire. After signing the two Soul Spirit Contracts, he completed the Creator God’s first test and obtained a God-Bestowed Soul Ring and 5% Creator God Affinity. The resulting nine-colored creation aura began repairing Snow Empress’s and Electrolux’s damaged origins and brought new vitality to the Far North. 36 38

Upon returning to Shrek City, Ye Chen encountered a veiled girl whom he initially mistook for Wang Dong’er. Her familiar fate aura led him to recognize the Emperor Auspicious Beast’s human form, subsequently introduced as Di Qiu’er. She enrolled in Class One earlier than Ye Chen expected. Meanwhile, later-era observers confirmed that Ye Chen had not existed in their remembered history, identifying the broadcast as an altered or alternate past that had not visibly changed their present. 38 40

Ye Chen’s return also deepened his relationships with Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao. He guided Bibi Dong, Ice Empress, and Snow Empress through Shrek City, then explained Soul Core cultivation after Mu En evaded his companions’ perception. His explanations enabled Bibi Dong to condense her first Soul Core and gave Qian Daoliu enough information to independently reconstruct the process in the Spirit Hall era. 46 47 48

During the Advancement Assessment, Ye Chen restored the arena’s frightened Soul Beasts with creation power before publicly revealing the Heavenly Snow Woman and its four orange rings. He chose a four-thousand-year Earth King, killed it with one ice-sword strike, and earned the maximum score of 200. He declined both Yan Shaozhe’s and Xuan Zi’s offers to become their disciple, maintaining that he already had a teacher. 64 67 68

After tying with Di Qiu’er for first place, Ye Chen agreed to a two-on-two match against Bei Bei and Xu Sanshi. He added the Tang Sect’s Mysterious Heaven Skill and Purple Demon Eye to the wager, while his own defeat would require him and Di Qiu’er to join the sect. During the fight, their Golden Dragon pressure suppressed Bei Bei, and Ye Chen’s Fate’s Lament subsequently undid both senior students’ awakened martial-soul states. 72 74 76 78

Dai Huabin and Wu Feng’s resentment escalated into a murder plot using their deathsworn in Shrek City. While outside the academy with Di Qiu’er, Ye Chen faced a group of Soul Kings and Soul Emperors and protected her rather than retreating. The ensuing dispute reached Shrek’s leadership after Ye Chen was injured. Xuan Zi refused to acknowledge the evidence against Dai Huabin and Wu Feng, prompting Di Qiu’er to demand that she and Ye Chen leave. Personality

Ye Chen is exceptionally self-confident and often openly arrogant. He treats opponents such as Dai Huabin, the Hell White Tiger, and conventional Shrek prodigies as beneath him, but his confidence is usually supported by superior foresight, soul rings, and combat ability. 18 22 26

He is strongly opposed to authority he considers hypocritical or abusive. He challenged Zhou Yi after she insulted and threatened her students, then rallied Class One to resist her. He is similarly distrustful of Shrek’s leadership, Tang San, and institutions that excuse harmful figures because of talent or reputation. 10 11 16

Ye Chen is strategic and future-oriented. He uses knowledge of later events to make profitable bets, plan around Huo Yuhao’s future opportunities, preserve his Soul Bone slots for higher-quality resources, and pursue Battle Armor development rather than relying on contemporary methods. 15 29 34

Despite his provocative manner, he shows loyalty toward those close to him. He protects Wang Dong and Xiao Xiao in battle, gives away Shrek’s Freshman Assessment Soul Bone rather than absorbing it himself, and seeks powerful equipment and protection for Bibi Dong. 14 21 29

His protective behavior extends to Di Qiu’er and his Soul Spirits. He promises Snow Empress a revitalized Far North, wants the Auspicious Beast to enjoy human life rather than repeat her tragic original future, and places Di Qiu’er behind him when attackers surround them. 38 80 81

Although confident in public, Ye Chen becomes flustered by romantic intimacy. Wang Dong’s jealousy and attempts to share his bed leave him embarrassed and confused, while his spiritual companions deliberately withhold explanations and enjoy his reactions. 46 52 71

Ye Chen can be coercive toward defeated rivals. After the Advancement Assessment, he insists that Dai Huabin honor the kowtow wager and forces Wu Feng down with Soul Power pressure, causing her forehead to strike the ground. He nevertheless exempts Zhu Lu from the humiliation. 68 69
