Overview

The Student Union is one of Cassel College’s major student factions and a longstanding rival of the Lionheart Society. Under its president, Caesar Gattuso, it operates through affiliated clubs, maintains a formal internal hierarchy, and recruits exceptional students to preserve its influence on campus. 10 15 18

Its members use the Night Watcher Forum, organize club activities and elections, and participate in the annual Day of Freedom conflict against the Lionheart Society. 7 19 24

Leadership and Members

• Caesar Gattuso — President; an A-rank second-year student who leads the organization with wealth, charisma, and a highly hierarchical command style. 8 11 28
• Fingel — Head of the News Department and Caesar’s subordinate; uses forum administrator privileges and manages publicity around Student Union activities. 9

Organization and Resources

• The Union includes multiple clubs and departments, including the News Department, Martial Arts Club, Gaming Club, and Art Club. 9 19 46

Recruitment of Li Lin and Xia Mi

Caesar becomes interested in Li Lin before the latter’s 3E Exam, having studied his preparatory-class combat videos. He initially offers Li Lin a vice-presidential role and later presents him as a potential successor to the Student Union presidency. 8 10 15

At the Student Union dinner, Li Lin announces that he and Xia Mi are interested in joining. Caesar offers Xia Mi leadership of any Union club, appoints Li Lin as her vice president, and commits one million dollars in funding. Xia Mi accepts the arrangement because the club resources can support Li Lin and counter Caesar’s influence over him. 18 19

The pair takes over the Martial Arts Club after its third-year leader relinquishes ownership and existing members are required to reapply. 19

Day of Freedom

Day of Freedom is an annual campus-wide combat event in which the Student Union and Lionheart Society fight with Equipment Department-modified firearms and Frigg Bullets. The Union’s members wear dark red combat uniforms, while the Lionheart Society wears black. 24

Caesar identifies Norton Hall as the Student Union’s principal objective for the event and convenes senior members to plan the operation. 19

Although Student Union forces initially benefit from Xia Mi’s intervention, she turns on them because the event rewards the final survivor rather than factional loyalty. 25 The Martial Arts Club ultimately secures Norton Hall, and Caesar accepts the result rather than contesting it, arranging renovations for Li Lin and Xia Mi to move in. 27

Relationship with the Lionheart Society
