Louis E. Griff Memorial Middle School was located in the Upper Eastside of central Gotham, farther away than Kara's previous school.
Fortunately, Gotham was small. The three of them drove over and arrived quickly.
Still, the stares along the way made Li Ang uncomfortable.
Harley Quinn was wearing his clothes, and she was so beautiful that she naturally drew attention.
Harley did not care, though. She seemed to have thought of something.
Just as Li Ang had said, the Joker outfit was outdated!
When they arrived at the school, they found that it had set up a special stage, apparently to welcome the new students.
There were also plenty of reporters around with cameras, though they did not seem particularly interested in pressing the shutter.
After all, who cared about ordinary students?
"Let's go over."
But Harley Quinn became interested and immediately linked arms with Li Ang as she ran toward the front.
She and Kara each held one of Li Ang's arms, as if they were secretly competing with each other.
"Hey, take a picture of me already!"
Harley said bluntly to a reporter.
"Why?"
The reporter asked, then noticed how pretty she was and decided she was worth something, so he snapped a "family portrait."
"Because I'm..."
Before Harley could finish, Li Ang covered her mouth and dragged her away.
They needed to get inside quickly.
If people found out she was Harley Quinn, Kara would probably have trouble getting enrolled.
Though she had learned last night that Li Ang was strong, Harley Quinn was still surprised. "Honey, you're so strong. No wonder you could kill me."
Kara was speechless.
Then a middle-aged white woman appeared before them, dressed in a women's suit and exuding the air of a leader.
A dedicated reporter stood behind her, taking pictures to document her welcoming the new students.
Li Ang immediately understood.
"Hello, I'm Principal Connie of Memorial Middle School."
Principal Connie tried her best to look kind, but when she saw Li Ang and the others' clothes—especially Harley's carefree demeanor—where was the slightest hint of aristocratic refinement or elite breeding?
She did not know whether keeping these students at the school was really a good thing...
Li Ang recognized her from her voice. Though he knew this was "Wayne's assignment," he still replied politely, "Hello, Principal. I'm Kara Zor-El's guardian."
"This is Kara?"
Principal Connie's attitude changed immediately. Looking at the blonde, blue-eyed Kara before her was like looking at treasure.
"So beautiful, like a doll. As expected of an outstanding student. I'm sure Kara will love the school..."
She then launched into a speech praising Kara.
Wayne Enterprises had personally designated her, and her name had been placed first. With Principal Connie's years of experience, she naturally saw that this was unusual.
Perhaps it had something to do with Bruce Wayne?
Kara was a little confused by this.
What was going on?
After saying a whole lot, Principal Connie politely said, "Please wait for the other new students. Then we'll take a group photo, and that will be all."
Li Ang and the others could only wait, and Harley Quinn quickly lost interest.
"Boring. This is so boring."
Harley kept whispering in Li Ang's ear, "Honey, how about we go meet that girl? Why is her hair purple?"
"We're not here to play."
Li Ang held her back.
Kara clearly had no interest in making friends. To her, they were all too childish.
The others had come with their parents as well, and they soon gathered together.
But just then, the reporters outside the school suddenly cheered, and camera shutters began flashing.
Harley Quinn was instantly displeased. "What's going on? I'm this gorgeous and nobody takes pictures of me? I want to see who it is!"
She stormed outside. Li Ang felt that bringing her here had been a mistake, so he could only hurry after her.
A supercar that looked like a concept vehicle had pulled up. The reporters beside it frantically pressed their shutters, apparently already knowing who was inside.
The door opened, and the reporters immediately swarmed forward.
"Bruce Wayne, why is Wayne Enterprises holding this event?"
"Will Wayne Enterprises continue to support this project?"
"What are Wayne Enterprises' views on climate issues?"
"Bruce..."
The man who stepped out of the car was Gotham's famous playboy, Bruce Wayne.
He wore a custom-made luxury suit, his hair neatly combed and gleaming. He stood tall, radiating confidence and world-weary maturity.
He seemed pleased and answered a few questions from the reporters.
At that moment, Kara tempted Harley Quinn, "That's Bruce Wayne. If he were willing to spend money on you, you'd never be able to use it all in your lifetime."
"Heh heh."
For some reason, though, Harley Quinn found Bruce Wayne very irritating.
"Little girl, rich men are all bad guys. Especially your godfather—he absolutely must not have money!"
Harley Quinn immediately redirected the fire toward Li Ang.
Thinking about Li Ang's behavior, Kara actually nodded. "That makes sense."
Li Ang was already like this without money. If he had money, who knew what would happen? Those bitches would definitely throw themselves at him like crazy.
"That's why men can't be trusted. The more you love a man, the more he'll hurt you..."
"Harley."
Li Ang quickly pulled her away before she could lead Kara astray.
Kara had never heard such reasoning before, but as someone frantically absorbing Earth knowledge, she only felt that it made sense.
By then, Bruce Wayne had finished dealing with the reporters, and Principal Connie immediately went to greet him.
"Mr. Wayne, I never expected you to come in person. Our school is deeply honored."
Principal Connie was incredibly excited.
This was Bruce Wayne.
Even Harley Quinn commented, "He's like a unicorn wearing fifty million dollars' worth of gold armor. What a rare sight."
Bruce Wayne exchanged pleasantries with the principal, then said, "I'm only here to take a look. Let's wrap this up early so the children can get to class."
Then, led by the principal, he went around meeting everyone.
Wayne Enterprises had sponsored quite a few children this time.
Soon, it was Li Ang and the others' turn.
"Thank you, Mr. Wayne."
Li Ang smiled. Bruce Wayne had solved Kara's schooling problem and waived the tuition, so there was no reason for him to be unhappy.
Even if he knew Bruce had other intentions, so what?
"No need to thank me. I hope Kara studies hard."
Bruce Wayne was more interested in Kara. This was the first time he had met Kara Zor-El.
This alien girl.
She looked no different from an Earthling, except she was prettier, as exquisite as a Barbie doll.
"Is this your wife?"
Then he saw Harley Quinn. Even without her Harley Quinn makeup, he recognized her immediately.
What was going on!?
"Uh..."
Before Li Ang could figure out how to explain, Harley Quinn, with a radiant smile on her face, said, "We're still discussing it, but most likely... yes. I'll be Kara's godmother."
Kara and Bruce Wayne both had a breakdown.
Li Ang covered his face. There was no explaining this now. Batman was going to beat him into a villain.
