Background

Han Jue was born into the Ice-Scaled Tribe, a combat-oriented Abyss clan whose members cultivate by absorbing the Northern Sea’s frigid aura. As the tribe’s young master, he became nearly unmatched among Abyss’s younger generation while still at the Mid-Stage Golden Immortal realm. 6

Initially, Han Jue rejected the Sea Spirit Clan’s administration of Abyss, believing that combat strength—not institutional responsibility—should determine authority. At the Martial Practice Arena, he defeated seventeen Realm Guard members and seriously injured a Sea Spirit cultivator while openly challenging Abyss’s order. 6

Lu Chen suppressed him through the Black Tortoise Sea-Calming Formation and imposed a punishment: Han Jue would join the Realm Guard at its lowest rank. He accepted the sentence as a chance to learn what it meant to protect Abyss, apologized to the injured cultivator, and committed himself to guarding the realm. 6

His acceptance of the punishment helped inspire young cultivators from other clans to enlist in the Realm Guard. He subsequently rose into command, becoming one of Abyss’s younger pillars alongside Ao Lie, Feng Li, and Lin Yue. 6 36

Personality

Han Jue is blunt, competitive, and quick to seek a fight with any opponent he considers strong. His early pride led him to mistake raw strength for the right to rule, but his suppression in Abyss transformed that instinct into a desire to defend its order. 6

He remains impulsive and provocative, particularly in his long-running rivalry with Ao Lie. However, he is capable of restraint when Abyss’s rules or safety require it; he leads formations, accepts responsibility after mistakes, and places external threats above personal grudges. 28 40 41

Despite his harsh disciplinary style, Han Jue is quietly compassionate toward Abyss’s children. As the Young Clans Court’s disciplinarian, he punishes misconduct but secretly gives spirit fruits to the children afterward. 46

His loyalty to Lu Chen is accompanied by intense admiration and a tendency to interpret the Emperor’s ordinary remarks or denials as evidence of profound cultivation. He admitted that he himself might not have resisted the temptation of Primordial Purple Qi, and his reverence increased when Lu Chen remained indifferent to the Saint Position. 112 127 132 133

His growing responsibility does not eliminate his curiosity or enthusiasm for powerful battles. Han Jue’s duties include maintaining order at the Three Lives Gate, inspecting the Three Lives Post Stations, and assisting refugees.

Dragon-Suppressing Pass and the Northern Dark Water Palace

Han Jue becomes a defender of Dragon-Suppressing Pass, where his rivalry with Ao Lie begins. He later leads elite Realm Guard members on Abyss’s first major expedition for the Black Tortoise Sea-Calming Pearl. 10 20

During the Blackwater Dragon Army’s assault, he commands eight hundred Realm Guards, helps subdue a Golden Immortal dragon general, and refuses to retreat after being injured by a Supreme Unity Golden Immortal elder. The Realm Guard’s combined Black Tortoise Formation withstands the elder’s strike. 13

Within the Northern Dark Water Palace, Han Jue increasingly obeys the expedition’s cautious approach. When the Sea Swallower Remnant Soul shows weakness, he stops himself from rushing forward after Lan Shuang warns him. He subsequently leads the Realm Guard’s formation to shield Ao Lie from Ao Yin. 21 22 24

Defense Against the Dragon Clan

During Abyss’s preparations for a possible Dragon Clan attack, Han Jue trains repeatedly under Ao Lie’s guidance. Though initially defeated seven times in formation simulations, he endures for half an hour on the eighth attempt using the Realm Guard’s combined formation. 28

After Ancestral Dragon departs, Han Jue finds Ao Lie questioning the Dragon Clan’s future. He directs his attention back to guarding Dragon-Suppressing Pass and following Abyss’s rules, helping restore Ao Lie’s composure. 33

Heart Demon Crisis and Youdu’s Infiltration

Youdu exploits Han Jue’s fear that the Dragon Clan will destroy Abyss, driving him into a Heart Demon state in which he attacks Ao Lie. Lu Chen’s Mind-Cleansing Tortoise Cry restores his clarity; Han Jue accepts responsibility and joins Ao Lie, Feng Li, and Lin Yue in fighting Youdu. 40 41

The illusion also turns Feng Li and Lin Yue into imagined enemies, exposing Han Jue’s broader fear that the three clans will betray Abyss. Once clear-headed, he becomes the group’s principal offensive spearhead. After Sea Devourer consumes much of Youdu’s Demonic Sha, Han Jue and his allies renew their coordinated assault and inflict a large wound on Youdu’s Taiyi Demon Body. 40 41 42

Young Clans Court

Han Jue becomes responsible for discipline among the Dragon, Phoenix, Qilin, and smaller-clan children sheltered by Abyss. Though initially overwhelmed and severe, he becomes one of the children’s most dependable mentors. 46

As the Three-Clan Era ends, he continues working with Ao Lie, Feng Li, and Lin Yue to stop the children’s arguments over clan superiority and redirect them toward useful tasks. His work later extends into the growing academy district and its expansion area. 60 115 140 144

Abyss’s Independence

When the Demon Clan attempts to classify him as a “demon soldier,” Han Jue forcefully rejects involuntary conscription. He affirms his identity as an Ice-Scaled Tribe young master and commander of Abyss’s Guardian Team. 81

He does not object to voluntary registration by others, but insists that he has never registered and therefore cannot be placed under the Demon Clan’s military system. During Di Jun’s later visit, Han Jue again questions the imposition of a broader Demon Clan identity on his tribe. 81 135

Later Service

Han Jue continues enforcing order during the expansion of Abyss Academy and the Three Lives Gate network. When Lu Chen begins experimenting with the Death Law, Han Jue assists through Mysterious Abyss but wisely stops questioning the Emperor’s intentions when warned. 130 144

He finds a Cold-Backed Giant Shark near the natural end of its life for the experiment and watches it die without pain or an obvious attack. He subsequently wonders whether the Emperor could make an enemy die of old age, but receives no confirmation. 144

When Mysterious Abyss acts against a Divine Court that has been collecting tribute in his name, Han Jue is selected to accompany him alongside Ao Lie and Feng Li. The Emperor’s explicit order to kill, rather than merely dismantle the organization, makes Han Jue recognize the seriousness of his anger. 136

Rescued Souls and Reincarnation

Following Youquan’s death, Han Jue helps maintain order as the souls imprisoned in the Myriad Souls Banner arrive at the Three Lives Gate. The number and damaged condition of the souls leave him little time to celebrate the Emperor’s victory. Ao Lie dissuades him from immediately asking to learn more about the killing technique. 150 151

During the establishment of Reincarnation, Han Jue asks whether the Three Lives Gate should open and receives Mysterious Abyss’s approval. He later helps Shi Sheng address his lingering concerns before entering the Netherworld passage. 162 163

He is also drawn to the aftermath of Lu Chen’s test of the Abyss Life and Death Wheel. Learning that Mysterious Mountain collapsed because it had first “died on the inside,” he gains a clearer appreciation of the Emperor’s destructive capabilities and agrees that he should continue fighting less. 166

Three Lives Post Station Enforcement

Han Jue rushes to the Thirty-Fourth Post Station after hearing of the Witch–Demon confrontation, but arrives after Black Crow’s death. Although disappointed at missing the battle, he recognizes the importance of the Boundary Stele and remarks that such a stone may become more useful than many Innate Spiritual Treasures. 175 177

As the stations’ rules gain credibility, he and Ao Lie inspect them and find that enemies increasingly refrain from fighting near the boundaries. Han Jue later reports that even opposing cultivators waiting on different sides of a stele did no more than glare at each other. 182 183

Ten-Suns Disaster

Han Jue detects the increasing danger as additional suns rise and their heat begins eroding his protective cold energy. He nevertheless continues rescue work, returning from the Sixtieth Post Station with two unconscious Water Clan boys before immediately setting out to help the Thirty-Third Post Station. 186 187

When refugee numbers approach the stations’ capacity, he is assigned to inspect the Fifth Post Station while Ao Lie maps possible water-vein connections. As transit waterways become busy, Han Jue reads reports of shrinking rivers and widespread fires and recognizes the severity of the disaster beyond the Northern Sea. 197 204

Kuafu’s Passage into Reincarnation

While patrolling near the Three Lives Gate, Han Jue senses an unusually powerful departing soul and recognizes Kuafu’s True Spirit. He confirms the Great Shaman’s death and watches as Mysterious Abyss directs him toward Reincarnation. 212

After Kuafu disappears into the Netherworld passage, a younger disciple asks whether he will return. Han Jue explains that Kuafu has entered Reincarnation and that no one knows who he may become, reflecting on how even a fallen Great Shaman now has a clear destination after death. 212
