Evan said nothing when he heard that.

Across from him, Elden continued, "And I sense a great many Misfortune Factors around you lately."

"You haven't been cursed, but over the next few days, a series of unpleasant things connected to you will happen."

The warning immediately brought Evan's impending trip to Arkham Town to mind.

I knew it! The people in Arkham Town really are bad news!

After a moment's thought, Evan thanked her, then said in a relaxed tone,

"I've had more than enough bad luck along the way. None of that bothers me."

"What I'm more curious about is what great power I possess that could be connected to Witches."

Elden fell silent for a moment, then asked tentatively, "Have you heard of the Black Sun?"

Evan's eyes flickered at those three words.

Elden caught that tiny reaction at once, and a tremor ran through her.

She hurried on.

"According to the memories passed down to me..."

"In ancient legend, Witches had a signifier of their own."

"It was a black sun that gave off a faint golden glow."

"Later, for some reason, that sun collapsed completely..."

"Since then, Witches have been reduced to parasites, surviving in the cracks between the various factions."

Evan was stunned by what Elden had told him.

He had never imagined that the Black Sun's series of Beyonder Characteristics was so closely tied to the entire Witch system.

What exactly is the Black Sun? Why does it turn up everywhere!?

Beneath Evan's shock lay a deepening confusion.
