History
Germa was a mobile kingdom in the North Blue, carried by a fleet of enormous snails. Judge sought to restore the Vinsmoke Family’s dominance over the North Blue, with Germa’s clone army and Modified Human Technology forming the basis of that ambition 158 161.
When Dawn arrived seeking Germa’s technology, Lafitte offered Judge a place under Dawn’s command and the prospect of ruling the North Blue. Judge refused to make Germa a vassal. The ensuing fight devastated its port and buildings; Dawn’s attack injured the snail carrying the kingdom, leaving Germa nearly destroyed 159.
Dawn subsequently obtained the Modified Human Technology from Judge’s memories and gave it to Vegapunk for improvement. He also brought Judge’s children Sanji and Reiju to Vegapunk for medical examinations 160 161.
Years later, the World Government imprisoned Judge and killed his sons Ichiji, Niji, and Yonji. By the time Lucci rescued him, Germa had been destroyed and its allied-nation status revoked. Judge agreed to serve Dawn after Dawn promised that the Vinsmoke Family could restore Germa in the North Blue following the World Government’s overthrow 348 367 368.
Appearance
Germa’s territory stood on square stretches of land borne atop giant snails, with spire-topped castles above them 158.
- Its main castle displayed a skull emblem marked by a yellow, lightning-shaped “66” 158.
- Its port was guarded by orderly ranks of clone soldiers 159.
Military and technology
- Clone army — Judge commanded emotionless clone soldiers equipped with combat suits and energy-firing Light Guns. Their concentrated fire threatened to exhaust Hawkins’s limited straw substitutes, but could not penetrate Dawn’s Gravity Field 159.
- Modified Human Technology — Germa’s original process edited Lineage Factors during fetal development; it could not be applied to fully grown adults. Vegapunk judged it immature, with a low success rate and severe side effects, and undertook to improve it 161.
- Energy weapons — Germa had made energy firearms standard equipment. Its Core Energy Weapon data was later given to Franky for his weapons development 159 339.
Relationships
- Vinsmoke Judge — Germa’s ruler, who initially refused Dawn’s offer of subordination but later pledged the Vinsmoke Family and its resources to him in hopes of restoring the kingdom 159 368.
- Davy D. Dawn — Nearly destroyed Germa in battle, acquired its technology, and later promised Judge a path to its revival 159 161 368.
- World Government — Formerly recognized Germa as an allied nation; it later imprisoned Judge, sought Germa’s research, and revoked that status 348 368.
