Attendant System
| Rank | Known qualifications and privileges |
|---|---|
| Grade-B Attendant | Generally granted to Mistblood Realm recruits. Yang Yi receives five hundred taels of monthly silver, six hundred jin of meat, additional provisions, mission rewards, and inner-fort residence for himself and his family. 9 |
| Grade-A Attendant | A rare rank ordinarily held by True Blood cultivators or retainers with substantial merit. Yang Yi is promoted after providing the Body Tempering Technique to the household. 16 |
- Grade-B Attendants may select three Martial Hall techniques: one movement, one offensive, and one defensive technique. 12
- Access to the Yin-Yang Pool is normally reserved for household members or attendants who render exceptional service. 15 33
- The household uses Bloodbane Pills to compel captured Lan Blood cultivators into service; only the Qiao Household holds the antidote to its own formulation. 34 37
Resources and Holdings
- Bamboo Garden — Inner-fort residence assigned to Yang Yi after the disputed Cuiwei Residence allocation. The household staffs it with eight male and eight female servants and supplies its living expenses. 10
- Cuiwei Residence — Inner-fort residence ultimately assigned to Shen Qian after Second Uncle Qiao intervenes in Qiao Yaoyao’s original plan to give it to Yang Yi. 9 10
- Outer-fort shops — Commercial properties used to support household affiliates and dependents; Yang Yi’s family receives a shop as part of his compensation. 14 16
- Myriad-Treasure Dew and Hundred Herbs Liquid — Cultivation resources distributed to valued attendants. The household makes extraordinary allocations to Yang Yi in return for his Body Tempering Technique. 15 19
- Falling Moon Market — Major medicinal-herb trading center that supplies materials for Jade Marrow Zhi Powder and Myriad-Treasure Dew. Its loss threatens roughly thirty percent of the household’s future production. 34 35
- Messenger Birds — Palm-sized birds capable of traveling a thousand miles per day, later provided to Yang Yi for rapid communication with the household. 48
History
Old Master Qiao built the household’s standing in part through cultivation at the Yin-Yang Pool. Following a past incident and his withdrawal from public affairs, he transferred control to Qiao Yaoyao, who became acting head. 15 16
After Black Wind Stronghold threatened Yang Family Hollow, Qiao Wuwang brought Yang Yi and his relatives to Qiao Family Fort. Qiao Yaoyao authorized Yang Yi’s recruitment as a Grade-B Attendant only after ordering a discreet investigation into his origins. 7 8 9
Yang Yi’s transfer of the Body Tempering Technique became a major turning point for the household. Tie Shan and Qiao An determined that it surpassed the Qiao Household’s Furnace and Cauldron Tempering Method, producing purer and denser blood qi. In exchange, the household granted Yang Yi free Martial Hall access, cultivation resources, Yin-Yang Pool access, and promotion to Grade-A Attendant. 15 16
The household later moved to exploit Shen Qian’s affiliation to intervene in Clearwind City and pursue the broader objective of reclaiming Qingfeng City. The campaign exposed an escalating conflict with the Liu Lineage and Shadow Tower. 20 23 32
As the conflict intensified, the Qiao Household abandoned peripheral territories to consolidate its defenses. It assigned Yang Yi, Qin Siniang, and Shen Qian to retake Falling Moon Market from Black Wind Stronghold because of the market’s strategic importance to its cultivation-resource supply. 34 35
Military and Political Operations
Clearwind City Campaign
The Qiao Household publicly framed its intervention as revenge for Shen Qian’s defeated Shen Lineage, but its larger objective was to seize control of Clearwind City. Lü E led Yang Yi and other attendants against the city’s major Lineages, whose Lan Blood experts were supported by the Liu Lineage. 23
The initial operation failed when a banquet trap at Eternal Celebration Tower overwhelmed the infiltration team. Yang Yi subsequently assumed command after Lü E was poisoned, led the survivors through the Song and Zhao forces, and helped eliminate six Lan Blood enemies while capturing two prisoners. 24 26 29 32
Qiao Yaoyao formally recorded Yang Yi’s actions as great merit and prioritized him for another Yin-Yang Pool session. 33
Falling Moon Market Campaign
Falling Moon Market was seized by Black Wind Stronghold, an affiliate of Shadow Tower, after its surprise attack killed one Qiao Household Lan Blood defender and wounded another. 35
Qiao Yaoyao dispatched Yang Yi to recover the market and temporarily hold it. Yang Yi’s force subjugated Golden Saber Hall through Lu Qianshan, destroyed the Black Wind Stronghold outpost, and restored the site to Qiao Household control. 34 37 41 47
