Ch. 1061Ripples of Fate
Chapter Summary: Ripples of Fate
Key Plot Points and Events
- Nameless returns to the Divine Treasure Space and finds the guard outside Sword Emperor Palace still alive but physically and emotionally ruined by Dancing Disease. He apologizes internally for his role in the disaster and promises to make amends.
- Using Flower Form combined with Path of Radiance, Nameless transforms into a stream of petals, allowing him to move rapidly and evade attacks. He enters Baipusen’s sleeping quarters and reaches the pyramid containing the dancing Puppet.
- Nameless senses only the Puppet inside but suspects that another hidden Beast of Original Sin may be connected to the mysterious incidents involving Zhang Shouzhong and the deaths outside the pyramid.
- Upon entering the chamber, Nameless attacks the Puppet with golden light. A previously unseen armored figure with a mirrored shield-like face appears and reflects his attack.
- Nameless avoids the reflected attack, launches a second strike, and successfully hits the Puppet. He writes the character “crossbow,” converting the Puppet into text and absorbing it.
- Once the Puppet is transformed, Dancing Disease ends everywhere. Those affected immediately regain control of their bodies.
Character Developments
- Nameless shows increased responsibility and compassion. Although Baipusen created the trap, he recognizes that he and his allies helped trigger it and resolves to compensate the victims. His mastery of Flower Form and Path of Radiance also demonstrates his growing adaptability in combat.
- Luo Jiu realizes that his earlier suspicion of Gao Shanggong was mistaken. He acknowledges that his carelessness caused him to misinterpret the situation and accepts Rama’s reprimand.
- Rama remains calm and composed, treating the consequences of the incident as a minor fluctuation in fate. His willingness to accept future trouble reflects his confidence and long-term resolve.
- The survivors at Wenxin Estate experience relief and renewed appreciation for personal freedom after being released from the disease.
Significant Themes
- Responsibility and guilt: Nameless accepts partial responsibility for the widespread suffering, even though he did not create Dancing Disease himself.
- Adaptability and practicality: Nameless initially dislikes the “effeminate” petal-like appearance of his new technique but accepts it because of its effectiveness, emphasizing usefulness over appearances.
- Fate and consequence: Rama explains that treating Luo Jiu caused fate to shift closer to its original course, creating future “ripples” and possible backlash.
- Freedom: The survivors’ joyful reactions highlight how easily freedom is taken for granted until it is lost.
- Caution and trust: Luo Jiu learns that confidence without vigilance can lead to serious mistakes, while the others place their trust in Nameless’s abilities.
Character Interactions
- Nameless silently acknowledges his debt to the afflicted guard before entering the palace.
- Nameless confronts the unseen armored defender protecting the Puppet and defeats the situation through evasion and strategic use of the “crossbow” character.
- Luo Jiu apologizes to Rama after Dancing Disease ends. Rama warns him to be more cautious and to accept responsibility if he repeats the mistake.
- At Wenxin Estate, Maria worries about Nameless’s absence, while Lin Renmei suggests waiting and Aries Palace and Gao Shanggong reassure everyone that Nameless can likely handle any additional Beast of Original Sin.
