Humans all had weaknesses.

These weaknesses did not refer merely to weaknesses of the body.

Whether it was the brain, the heart, or any other miscellaneous vital point, all of them could be made whole through cultivation. Thus, physical weaknesses meant little to players.

But weaknesses on the spiritual and soul levels were difficult to correct.

As the saying went, rivers and mountains were easy to change, but one's nature was hard to alter. Though many might find that absurd, a person's nature truly affected their entire life and was almost impossible to change.

Why did Hawkins use hatred to spur Martin on and make him strive, rather than some other method?

After all, using hatred as bait was far too cruel for a child. It even carried the hidden risk that Martin might learn the truth someday and turn against him in hatred.

So why had Hawkins still chosen to do this?

The reason was simple. Martin had a flaw in his character: he was prone to cutting corners and playing tricks. Without any outside intervention, he was highly likely to go down the wrong path in the future.

Hawkins possessed the wisdom to see from beginning to end. The moment he saw Martin, he had already clearly understood Martin's nature.

Forcing Martin to train would only have the opposite effect. Martin might even hate him to the point of gritting his teeth, believing Hawkins was abusing him.

With Martin's character, if things continued like that, there would be only one outcome—he would betray him without fail in the future.

But now, using the hatred between Mark and Tide Village as a catalyst could instead make Martin steadier. With a goal before him, he could focus on training and even treat hardship as good medicine for mending the guilt
