Background / History
In his previous life, Tang San was an overlooked Tang Sect outer disciple. He stole the sect’s Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record before transmigrating to the Douluo Continent. His memories of being mistreated and denied resources, followed by poverty and Tang Hao’s scoldings in his new life, fuel his desire to rise above others. 9
Tang San arrived at Nuoding Academy with Old Jack. The gatekeeper’s contempt for their poor clothing provoked him into preparing a Hidden Weapon, but Lu Shiyuan intervened before he could attack. Yu Xiaogang then approached the dispute, beginning his mentorship of Tang San. 9
After recovering from Lu Shiyuan’s beating, Tang San accompanied Yu Xiaogang to the Soul Hunting Forest and gained his first Soul Ring from a Mandala Snake, continuing the path Lu Shiyuan recognizes from the original timeline. 17
Personality
Tang San is proud, stubborn, and intensely sensitive to humiliation. He resents the social advantages enjoyed by Lu Shiyuan and Xiao Wu, whose wealth, appearance, and treatment at the academy contrast with his own impoverished upbringing. 9
He is fiercely loyal to Yu Xiaogang, whose attention and theoretical knowledge gave him affection and validation he lacked growing up. Although Lu Shiyuan’s criticisms briefly make him doubt his teacher, Tang San quickly returns to defending Yu Xiaogang. 12 13
When angered, Tang San is willing to employ covert and disproportionate methods. He prepares to use a Hidden Weapon on the gatekeeper and later fires a Sleeve Arrow at Lu Shiyuan after losing an argument. 9 13
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
Tang San possesses Twin Martial Souls, though only his Blue Silver Grass Martial Soul is identified in the available material. Lu Shiyuan publicly deduces the secret from Tang San’s Innate Full Soul Power. 12
- Blue Silver Grass — His disclosed Martial Soul and the source of his first Soul Skill. 17 18
- Innate Full Soul Power — His initial talent is considered incompatible with ordinary Blue Silver Grass alone, leading Lu Shiyuan to identify him as a Twin Martial Soul owner. 12
Blue Silver Entanglement
Tang San’s first Soul Skill comes from a Hundred-Year Mandala Snake Soul Ring. It produces Blue Silver Grass vines that bind opponents and carry poison. 17 18
- Can create vines across an area to obstruct movement and predictively seal likely escape routes. 18
- The poison gradually weakened Xiao Chenyu after entering his meridians, allowing Tang San to defeat him. 18
- Lu Shiyuan considers the low-age poison ineffective against stronger Soul Masters and argues that improving the grass’s toughness would have been a better early-ring choice. 18
Tang Sect Secret Arts
Tang San retains techniques and weapons associated with his previous life in the Tang Sect. 9 13
- Sleeve Arrow — A concealed projectile weapon used in his surprise attack on Lu Shiyuan. 13
- Ghost Shadow Perplexing Track — Footwork used in an unsuccessful attempt to evade Time Blade Pierce. 14
- Purple Demon Eyes — An ocular technique that still failed to follow Lu Shiyuan’s accelerated movement during their fight. 14
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Sleeve Arrow — Tang Sect Hidden Weapon fired at Lu Shiyuan during his surprise attack. 13
- Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record — Tang Sect manual Tang San stole in his previous life. 9
Relationships
- Lu Shiyuan — Rival and enemy. Lu interrupts Tang San’s intended attack on the academy gatekeeper, exposes his Twin Martial Souls, defeats him after his Sleeve Arrow attack, and repeatedly dismisses later challenges. 9 12 14 18
- Xiao Wu — Tang San becomes immediately captivated by her upon first seeing her, but her loyalty to Lu Shiyuan makes their interactions hostile. She later defeats Tang San in a public spar. 9 10 19
- Yu Xiaogang — Mentor and father-figure-like source of emotional support. Tang San defends him during his dispute with Lu Shiyuan and receives his first Soul Ring under Yu Xiaogang’s guidance. 12 13 17
- Old Jack — Elderly guardian who accompanies him to Nuoding Academy and attempts to comfort him over their poverty. 9
- Tang Hao — His father, who secretly monitors him and develops murderous intent after Lu Shiyuan severely defeats Tang San. 14 15
Story Role / Major Arcs

Conflict with Lu Shiyuan
After Yu Xiaogang attempts to recruit Lu Shiyuan, Tang San defends his teacher and challenges Lu. When Yu Xiaogang prevents a life-or-death duel, Tang San fires a Sleeve Arrow in anger. Lu retaliates with Time Blade Pierce, overwhelms him physically, and leaves him unconscious. 12 13 14
First Soul Ring and Academy Rivalry
