"Let me go! Who are you?"
Tang San roared in shock and struggled nonstop. Of the Eight Spider Soul Bone on his back, only the upper two legs could still move. They frantically struck at the scaled tail that had him in Entanglement, producing sharp metallic clanging sounds.
The moment Lin Yin restrained Tang San, he revealed himself. Dragon scales covered his entire body, and a pitch-black Soul Ring pulsed around him—the sixth Soul Ring he had obtained from the Ten-Thousand-Year Datura Snake not long ago.
Lin Yin controlled his dragon tail and dragged Tang San before him, then raised his right hand and slapped him across the face. "Behave yourself!"
Seeing that Tang San had been restrained, Huo Lei rushed out of the bushes. By the time he reached Lin Yin, Lin Yin had already slapped Tang San.
"What do you want? I don't seem to have any grudge against you."
Tang San's eyes were bloodshot as he questioned them furiously.
"Let's put aside whether we have any grudge. At such a young age, you already have an External Soul Bone, so there must be plenty of good things in your storage Soul Tool. My brother and I would like to borrow one or two of them."
With black cloth covering his face, Huo Lei deliberately made his voice sound deeper to keep the other party from recognizing it.
"Don't you feel ashamed of doing this? If you have the guts, let me go and we'll fight one-on-one. If you win, I'll willingly leave my things behind."
Tang San spoke righteously.
"Hahaha!"
"One-on-one?"
"Kid, do you take us brothers for idiots? I don't have time to play with you. You'd better cooperate obediently and stop trying any tricks, or you'll regret it."
Huo Lei looked at Tang San as though he were an idiot, then turned to Lin Yin. "Big Brother, make sure you keep this kid's limbs and the Soul Bone on his back restrained. Don't let your guard down. I'll take the goods now."
To better conceal their identities, Huo Lei changed how he addressed Lin Yin.
"Rest assured, Young Master. I'll keep an eye on this kid."
Lin Yin was clever as well and changed how he addressed Huo Lei.
Huo Lei gave Lin Yin an approving look and reminded him, "Big Brother, move your tail aside and expose his belt."
Lin Yin shifted his tail, revealing Tang San's storage belt, Twenty-Four Bridges Bright Moonlit Night.
Suppressing his delight, Huo Lei reached for Tang San's belt.
"Stop! My good friend is Dugu Bo, a powerful Titled Douluo. Let me go now, and I'll pretend nothing happened today. Otherwise, he won't let you off."
Seeing the other man's hand about to touch his storage belt, Tang San hurriedly stopped him and invoked Dugu Bo to intimidate the two men.
"A Titled Douluo is your good friend? Pah! Stay still. Even if Dugu Bo were your friend, it wouldn't matter. Even if he were your father, it still wouldn't help."
Not only was Huo Lei unfazed by Tang San's words, he mocked him before continuing to reach for his storage belt.
How could Tang San let him succeed so easily? He began struggling violently while controlling the only two movable legs of the Eight Spider Soul Bone on his back, frantically attacking the tail that had him in Entanglement.
"Damn it, you really don't know what's good for you. Big Brother, restrain those two spider legs for me."
Huo Lei cursed furiously.
Seeing Huo Lei angry, Lin Yin did not dare delay. His dragon-scaled hands each grabbed one of Tang San's two remaining movable Eight Spider Soul Bone legs, raising them high while increasing the Entanglement's pressure.
Once Huo Lei saw that Lin Yin had Tang San securely restrained, he walked up without another word and gave him a fierce barrage of slaps.
"Slap! Slap! Slap..."
"I told you not to misbehave..."
"I told you not to struggle..."
"I told you not to resist..."
After more than a dozen slaps, Huo Lei glared at Tang San, whose face had been beaten into a swollen pig's head, and demanded, "Do you submit?"
"Remember this, kid. Keep that temper of yours in check around me."
Tang San's cheeks were red and swollen, blood streaming from the corner of his mouth. He no longer struggled, his head hanging low as he became much more obedient.
Huo Lei did not dare waste time. He immediately focused his mind and examined the twenty-four gemstones on Tang San's belt one by one.
"Found it. This is the one."
Delight appeared on Huo Lei's face. Using Soul Power under the control of his mind, he took an exquisite blue leather pouch from Tang San's storage belt. It was the Wishful Treasure Pouch, capable of holding living creatures.
Huo Lei did not have time to admire it and quickly stored it in his own storage ring.
"Big Brother, throw this kid farther away. We're leaving immediately."
Huo Lei instructed Lin Yin beside him and prepared to turn around and leave.
Lin Yin hurriedly asked in confusion, "Young Master, what about the External Soul Bone on this kid?"
Huo Lei could not be bothered explaining. Somewhat impatiently, he urged, "It doesn't suit us. Hurry and throw him away. We're leaving now."
Huo Lei could not be blamed for being cautious. As a transmigrator, he knew very well just how insidious Tang San was. If Tang San was given even the slightest opportunity, the two of them would be finished in Sunset Forest.
To take the Soul Bone, they would first have to release Tang San from their control. And taking a Soul Bone was not as easy as imagined. Tang San was not a dead Soul Beast; once he regained his freedom, he would be like a super bomb. Besides that, there was another hidden danger: Tang Hao, who always appeared and disappeared without a trace. If that old bastard showed up, they would truly be dead. Huo Lei had no intention of taking that risk. There would be plenty of time in the future to deal with him after they grew stronger.
Though Lin Yin felt a hint of reluctance, he still spun his dragon tail wildly three times before suddenly releasing it, flinging Tang San away.
"Move!"
Huo Lei gave a low shout, and the two of them darted toward the outskirts of Sunset Forest.
Three days later, a horse-drawn carriage with an enclosed compartment stopped before the gates of Blazing Fire Academy. A youth in red and a young man in green stepped down from the carriage. They were Huo Lei and Lin Yin.
"We're finally here. Traveling really is miserable."
The moment Huo Lei got out of the carriage, he muttered a complaint to himself. At the same time, he stretched his numb arms, twisted his aching waist, and rolled his somewhat stiff neck.
After paying the fare, Lin Yin came to Huo Lei's side and looked at the grand academy gates with admiration. "As expected of Blazing Fire Academy, one of the Heaven Dou Empire's Five Great Elemental Academies. It really is different—far better than some other academies."
"Lin Yin, why do I feel like there's something more to your words? By the way, I still don't know which Soul Master Academy you graduated from."
Huo Lei studied him curiously.
"Well... this subordinate was born lowly. The Soul Master Academy I attended cannot compare to Young Master Lei's, so it isn't worth mentioning. Not worth mentioning."
Lin Yin hesitated, then gave an embarrassed laugh without answering.
Huo Lei did not press the matter further. After all, it was not a big deal.
"I wonder whether Teacher has returned yet."
Huo Lei sighed.
"With my lord's strength, he should have returned before us."
Lin Yin replied from beside him.
"Perhaps. Lin Yin, let's go in. I'll introduce you to a few important people."
Huo Lei smiled, draped his right arm over Lin Yin's shoulder, and walked into Blazing Fire Academy.
