History

Origins and Renaming

The Mortal Domain History Book traces the faction’s beginning to Year 378 of the Eternal Night Old Calendar. Persecuted by the North River Chen Family, Chen Fan became Station Master of Jiangbei Chen Family Station No. 37 with only Crippled Monkey and three Eerie Stones. Its recorded early history includes gathering followers, losing a camp to the Strange Tide, relocating to Nameless Mountain, and killing a Wraith King 247.

At the celebration of that victory, the Pill Sect Young Master injured a gatekeeper after repeated warnings that he was entering Mortal Sect territory. Chen Fan destroyed the intruding convoy with concealed cannon towers, renamed his faction the Mortal Domain, and announced an expedition against the Pill Sect 110.

The Nine-Five Dragon Chariot breached the Pill Sect’s defenses. Loot from the destroyed sect supplied the Domain with eerie stones, pills, treasures, manuals, furnaces, and agricultural materials, enabling Chen Fan to begin formal institutional expansion 113 115.

Mortal City and Regional Influence

Mortal City opened beside Nameless Mountain as a coastal market and auction venue. Low-priced Skeleton Horses, Wraith Camels, and other goods attracted established factions, while credit encouraged them to distribute Mortal Domain products through their own trade networks 127 128.

The first market day filled all twenty trusted-faction slots and sold more than 1,500 Skeleton Horses. By the auction, independent merchants were moving toward Mortal City while North River Market grew deserted. The Domain had become an economic center whose new products influenced development plans throughout Jiangbei’s Four Regions 129 143 151.

Its military reputation grew alongside its commerce. The Shadow Pavilion destroyed the Wind and Rain Tower’s branches and reported killing all seventy-eight core members in retaliation for an assassination attempt against Chen Fan 144.

Expansion Beyond Jiangbei

Explorers discovered Hope Island and a resource-rich New Continent beyond the Thunderstorm Sea. After mourning expedition members killed at sea, Chen Fan began an undersea tunnel with Weiwei, reinforcing it with Copper Pipe and the Mountain-Skeleton Embryo 156.

Mining soon outpaced the tunnel’s transport capacity. Chen Fan installed a second track, planned mass recruitment for resource extraction, and expanded the home territory’s wall and Eerie Fire coverage before the predicted Strange Tide 161.

The Domain subsequently strengthened the Northbank Defense Line, established the Yellow Springs Mouth line, and acquired additional defenses and personnel from Eternal Night Hall. During the Royal Clan invasion, Chen Fan combined forced teleportation with an airspace ban and massed artillery to kill King Zhitian 190 191 201.

Preventive Wars and the Mortal Domain Alliance

Chen Fan targeted the One-Eyed, Dark Star, and Heaven-Slaying Clans because they were approaching Third-Level Race status. Jiu Wu’s feigned defections enabled Mortal Domain construction teams to establish artillery positions inside enemy territory; all three clans were eliminated without Mortal Domain casualties 239 240 246 247.

Rather than treating those victories as permanent security, Chen Fan ordered “Pulling the Firewood from Beneath the Cauldron,” a further campaign against clans two steps from advancement. Over the following year, the Domain eliminated fourteen second-level Strange Entity Clans under that policy 247 256.

The Mortal Domain Alliance offered neighboring continents collective defense and potential assistance with advancement. Its establishment also secured military funding and technology resources for the Domain 248.

Third-Level Invasion and Recovery

The Domain’s third-level promotion was followed by an invasion involving the Wasteland Clan and multiple Night-Opening People continents. It initially exploited staggered enemy arrivals, acquired survival time to raise its building cap, and then fought several opponents through simultaneous long-range bombardment 261 268 271.

Victory exhausted its stored eerie stones and Sky-Piercing Pillars and caused the highest death toll in its history. Nearly an entire department was wiped out, and Qi Yue died after establishing the beginning of a landing formation. Zhou Mo, who had previously fallen during an investigation, was resurrected on Rugged Island 253 274 275.

The losses shaped the Domain’s recovery: Chen Fan demanded larger reserves, broadened recruitment, and launched the Whole-Sea Talent Selection to reduce dependence on a small leadership group 281 293.

War Mire and World Battlefield

Before entering the War Mire, the Domain disrupted an eleven-faction coalition through planted intelligence and claims that it already possessed orthodoxy. It then demanded survival time from rival continents and bombarded those that refused, while completing its “War Machine” advancement requirement 298 299 301 302.

Fourth-level advancement opened access to more specialized buildings and weapons. The Domain invested in research, recycling, popular-will collection, and the systematic recovery of conquered continents’ records and materials 313 316 317.

Its defeat of the Eastern Clan earned Eternal Night the Blood Arena God-King title. Chen Fan later adopted “Branching Out,” using affiliated continents to expand a chain of allegiance and accumulate War Dividend bonuses before entering the Boundary Battlefield 353 355 370 375.

Boundary Battlefield

After becoming a sixth-level continent, Eternal Night entered the Boundary Battlefield and was assigned to the Human Faction. The Domain studied the fog-covered battlefield while securing alliances and building larger ammunition reserves 394 415.

An exposed flank deployment forced it to confront an Eighth-Level Strange Entity force. Jiu Wu sealed the enemy inside a Blood Arena and stalled its King while Chen Fan supplied weapons. The victory brought over 500,000 merit points; the subsequent Peach-Stealing Operation earned nearly eight million more and placed Eternal Night at Rank 998 421 422 429.

The Domain then exterminated the Nine-Headed Serpent Clan, strengthened its Primordial Wall, and accepted Yun Du and Qi An’s surrender under observation. Intelligence from the defectors contributed to its Ghost Gate operation 436 440 443 446.

One day of chaos empowerment turned Eternal Night into a mobile artillery platform that routed the Strange Entity Clan’s Fifth Defense Line. The resulting gains raised its faction merit ranking to No. 99. Chen Fan later restored the Ghost Gate to Hell and began using Hell as a storage and redevelopment base 446 447 448 449.

Territory and Infrastructure

  • Nameless Mountain — Original headquarters; Cave One remains Chen Fan’s residence and a recurring administrative setting 146 310.
  • Mortal City — Coastal market city beside Nameless Mountain, with shops, auctions, schools, and War Pavilion patrols 127 156 311.
  • Sunset City — Dedicated to large-scale crop cultivation and livestock farming 147.
  • Jiangbei rest stations — Ten stations serve major factions; authentic trusted-faction tokens grant free lodging. Smaller-scale station business is deliberately left to Northbank City factions 129.
  • Copper Pipe network — Links transport infrastructure and defines territorial reach in Chen Fan’s formulation: connected bridges also become Mortal Domain buildings 153.
  • Undersea Tunnel — Connects the Domain to the New Continent; a second track permits continuous loaded and empty train movements 156 161.
  • Home Safe Zone — The Level-10 Main Eerie Fire covers a twenty-kilometer diameter encompassing Nameless Mountain, Mortal City, Sunset City, and the harbor 161.
  • Rugged Island — Memorial and burial site expanded into a ninety-nine-layer complex with 1.7 million plots and a Level-10 enclosing wall 242.
  • Aerial Prison — Built 20,000 kilometers above the Provocateur Continent; prisoners perform hard labor 242.
  • Hell — After restoration of its Ghost Gate, Chen Fan can open an energy-free passage near the Domain. Reconstruction includes repairing buildings and planting greenery 449.

Capabilities

Construction and Logistics

  • Mass-produced materials, prefabrication, high-speed rail, and coordinated labor allow rapid deployment of major defense lines 191.
  • Giant Strange Entity vehicles carry enormous structures and improve mining efficiency 190 191.
  • Construction teams repeatedly establish Heavenly Dao Cannon positions on hostile continents through teleportation and concealed landings 243 246.
  • The combined tactic depends on coordinated personnel; Chen Fan explicitly rejects sole control of all buildings because one person could not execute it 243.

Cultivation and Talent Development

  • The max-level Spirit-Nurturing Pavilion accelerates cultivation up to forty times normal 147.
  • Cultivators reaching 99% body tempering inside it receive perfect body tempering when breaking through to Martial King 147.
  • The Private Academy’s Level-20 effect offers three suitable cultivator identities when a mortal first activates that identity, based on prior education 311.
  • Spring Examinations and the Whole-Sea Talent Selection recruit administrators, strategists, researchers, and specialists through multiple selection rounds 234 293.
  • Exceptional materials do not remove staffing requirements: the early Domain could not process its earth gold or produce Clearheart Pills without sufficiently skilled specialists 125.

Intelligence and Centralized Control

  • The Shadow Pavilion gathers foreign intelligence and monitors public opinion and sensitive internal departments 225 243.
  • The Level-20 Heavenly Derivation Formation connects 470,000 structures, with a total capacity of one million 243.
  • It displays building status, locations, and weapon trajectories; operators can make limited course corrections to Sky-Piercing Pillars 243.
  • The Strategist Pavilion receives access to 60% of structures in peacetime and 80% in wartime 243.
  • Centralization creates a severe information-leak risk, addressed through background checks and Shadow Pavilion surveillance 243.
  • Recorded missile capabilities include concealing energy intensity and splitting one Sky-Piercing Pillar into three 271 272.
  • Heart That Embraces the World collects the population’s hopes and wishes as popular will 317.
  • Public happiness generates benevolent popular will; injustice and dissatisfaction produce malicious popular will that contaminates it 317.
  • “Lights of Ten Thousand Homes” contingencies convert stored popular will into emergency construction resources 353 421.
  • The Blood Arena God-King title multiplies supplied troops tenfold and refunds their costs after battle, allowing temporary wartime construction to become a lasting reserve 421.

Revival and Continuity

  • Creatures personally buried by the Mortal Domain on Rugged Island have a small chance of revival after a long interval, provided at least 30% of the body remains 242.
  • Jiu Wu can resurrect Strange Entities, enabling dangerous scouting without necessarily causing permanent losses 250.
  • The Mortal Domain Jade Seal authenticates important orders, binds oaths, and protects Chen Fan from death while the Domain survives 207.
  • Before obtaining that protection, the absence of a designated heir is identified as a major vulnerability: Chen Fan’s death would cause its buildings to crumble 187.

Defenses and Arsenal

  • Northbank Defense Line — Reaches Level 10 and a height of 200 meters; an upgrade extends Eerie Fire coverage along connected walls 190.
  • Yellow Springs Mouth Defense Line — A twenty-seven-kilometer Level-10 wall equipped with Godslayer, anti-aircraft, and Black Tortoise Cannons 191.
  • Primordial Wall — Combines City Wall defenses with the continent’s protective formations; additional formations can strengthen it further 440.
  • Godslayer Cannons — The “Sweep a Thousand Armies” blessing carries excess damage from a kill to nearby enemies 147.
  • Forced Teleportation Formation and Full Airspace Ban — Used together to relocate Zhitian’s army above the circular defense lines and immobilize it under artillery fire 201.
  • Black Tortoise Cannon — Requires a Level-10 defense line. Its intangible summon cannot be injured, only depleted of energy; one demonstrated attack costs one million Eerie Stones 191.
  • Heavenly Dao Cannons — Gain Sin Value-based judgment damage at Level 30; ninety-nine are upgraded into a Heaven-Deriving Orbital Cannon 310.
  • Sky-Piercing Pillars — Core long-range weapons, including nuclear-warhead, strategic, and Heavenly-Derivation variants 240 421.
  • Individual Armory — Produces Pocket Cannons and weapons usable without cultivation prerequisites; its Level-10 effect halves production costs 213 261.
  • Eternal Beyond — Pink-grade weapon capable of sending a struck continent into Yellow Springs 375.
  • Otherworld Kingdom — Generates vast fields of space rifts. Its destructive reach can also lose valuable enemy resources into those rifts, and specialized enemies can reflect or contain its attacks 375 386.
  • Azure Dragon Corps — Jiu Wu commands 90,000 Level-70 and 1,000 Level-80 azure dragons created at a cost of 100 quadrillion eerie stones 440.
  • Ghost Gate assault batteries — Include 1.18 million Falling Star Cannons, 220,000 Core Energy Cannons, 3.28 million Heavenly Thunder Towers, and millions of Godslayer Cannons 446.

Economy and Trade

Commercial Model

  • The Domain sells goods cheaply enough for other factions to profit from resale, using their established routes instead of immediately building competing networks 127.
  • Level One trusted factions receive a 100,000-Eerie-Stone credit limit and free upgraded lodging 128.
  • Credit exposes the Domain to delayed payment, but Chen Fan treats it as an investment in distribution and influence; the Nine-Five Dragon Chariot serves as a repayment deterrent 128.
  • Its advertised Level-3 City Wall construction service guarantees matching patterns at 2,000 Eerie Stones per meter 127.
  • Later overseas offerings include repair services, transport, teleportation, emergency fire support, and ammunition-saving structures 239.
  • The Starforge recycles treasures and blueprints into eerie stones, extracts dark energy from corpses to make obsidian, and recovers some building materials. “Universal Recycling+++” permits continent recycling over forty-nine days 317.

  • Identity Tokens later incorporate identification, positioning, voice transmission, and controlled access to buildings 251.
  • Education includes basic literacy, continental history, useful plant identification, and Strange Entity knowledge rather than reserving such information for officials 318.
  • Mortal Domain Daily reports major developments and campaigns. Publication begins after the unification of Eternal Night Continent 247 318.
  • Mortal Domain History Book preserves its rise and leadership’s contributions; reading it influences both new allies and distant admirers 247 426.

  • Law enforcement targets theft, corruption, gambling-funded embezzlement, village tyrants, and other crime. Chen Fan’s popular-will program gives public grievances direct strategic importance 242 317.
  • Civilian continuity remains a priority during war: schools, newspapers, greenery, and retired continent lords’ leisure continue within the Domain 449.
  • Leadership ideal rejects kingship. Even after the Sky Toad Clan calls him “Mortal King,” Chen Fan insists on “Domain Lord” and reiterates his ideal of a world without Kings 449.
