The Asgardian Gods in Chita City were killing with great relish.
Though the Mind-Linked were fairly capable, before their advanced weaponry and equipment, it was clearly nothing more than Carnage.
By now, several hundred The Mind-Linked had fallen to the ground forever, and the rest had begun fleeing the area in panic.
No matter how slow-witted the The Mind-Linked were, they still understood that life was precious.
But how could the Asgardian Gods possibly pass up such a chance for Carnage?
Thus, the pursuit began.
But at that moment, a sudden flash lit up the sky.
When they looked up, they suddenly discovered that, at some unknown time, a large number of unidentified Spaceships had appeared in outer space. They seemed to be launching something toward them.
A moment later, streaks of fiery red appeared across the sky, like falling meteors.
And dozens of those meteors were headed straight for them.
"What's going on?"
The leading Asgardian stopped chasing the enemy, raised his wrist, and activated his communicator, preparing to contact the ship in outer space and ask what was happening.
But after trying for a while, the Communicator produced only a crackling "Bzzzt..." with no response at all.
At this time, because of the disturbance overhead, the other Asgardian Gods also stopped their pursuit and returned to their captain's side.
"Captain, none of our Communicators can receive a signal. What's going on?"
"Captain, could our spaceship have been destroyed?"
"Captain, what should we do? Whoever this is, they don't seem friendly."
"Captain..."
Hearing his subordinates' endless questions, the captain impatiently waved his hand and shouted, "Quiet! Enter maximum alert!"
As soon as the captain finished speaking, everyone fell silent and began quietly charging their equipment.
Just because they were Gods did not mean their equipment had Infinity energy.
The spears and shields they had used earlier all consumed energy.
Once everyone was ready, they looked up at the sky.
The meteors in the sky were already very close, and they could somewhat make out what they were.
They were rectangular black landing pods. Such landing pods were common in space and were generally used for ground combat deployments.
Of course, they could also serve as escape pods in emergencies.
One such landing pod could deploy around a thousand people.
Looking at the densely packed meteors in the sky, sweat appeared on every Asgardian's forehead.
Were these people enemies or allies?
More than ten minutes later.
The landing pods finally reached the ground.
After slowing down only slightly, the landing pods relied on their sturdy shells to slam directly into the earth.
The thunderous crashes rang out without end.
Fortunately, Chita City's walls were sturdy. Though they were affected by the impact, the landing pods had landed too far away to destroy them.
At this moment, the captain said, "Ali, deploy reconnaissance drones and check the situation."
The Asgardian named Ali nodded, then removed three round iron spheres the size of fists from his waist.
After throwing the metal spheres onto the ground, he raised his arm and began operating them.
A moment later, the three spheres revealed scarlet eyes. Their anti-gravity systems activated, and they rose into the air.
Under Ali's control, the three reconnaissance drones flew outward.
A display of the drones' footage appeared before him.
As the drones approached those unfamiliar landing pods, they finally got a clear look at them.
The landing pods were entirely black, yet their tops were pointed, and they had sunk into the ground to an unknown depth.
But soon, their balancing systems activated. The landing pods leveled themselves, and their pointed tops, like sharp swords, aimed toward the sky.
What happened next plunged all the Asgardian Gods into fear.
The landing pods opened their hatches, and a vast tide of black poured out.
After enlarging the display, they could see clearly that it was no black tide at all, but one black monster after another.
These monsters stood over two meters tall, with six powerful limbs, ferocious faces, and sharp fangs.
Any force active in the cosmos would have recognized them as the Black Order, Thanos's strongest legion.
And now, this Black Order was charging toward Chita City at speeds exceeding 150 kilometers per hour.
The Asgardian Gods' captain saw this on the screen and immediately said, "Run! We must not let them surround us!"
The others immediately snapped back to their senses.
"Yes, let's get out of here!"
"But our spaceship is gone. How are we supposed to escape?"
"Doesn't matter where we run. If you don't want to die, run first!"
"That's right. We haven't returned to Asgard for so long that the people above will definitely notice. We just need to hold out until rescue arrives."
Very quickly, the six of them reached an agreement and began running in the direction with the fewest enemies.
It had to be said that the Asgardian Gods truly deserved to be called a race capable of ruling the Milky Way.
Even these ordinary soldiers were like miniature Supermen. They ran incredibly fast and, before long, had rushed out of the city.
Unfortunately, the Black Order was not slow either.
Not long after they left the city, black specks appeared in the distance.
"Damn it, monsters are ahead!"
"Captain, what do we do?"
"I don't want to die! Sob..."
Before the battle had even begun, an atmosphere of despair spread among the Asgardian Gods.
After all, there were simply too many enemies this time. They had no chance of winning.
But the captain running at the front gritted his teeth and said resolutely, "Warriors of Asgard, Odin be with us! Charge!"
Hearing this, the other five seemed to find their backbone and immediately showed determined expressions as well.
At that moment, they were like heroes. Though they knew the road ahead led to certain death, they still launched their charge for that sliver of hope.
A moment later, the six Asgardian Gods became like a golden sword, piercing into the black tide.
But no matter how strong they were, against the nearly endless Black Order, they held on only briefly before being completely swallowed up.
