The Technology Gap

Inside Sanctuary II.

Thanos looked at the cosmic fleet on the screen, ten light-years away, and gave a cold smile.

Although there was no upper limit to individual strength in the Marvel universe, where even destroying a universe was no great feat, technological power could not be underestimated either.

Take Kang the Conqueror, for example.

He was merely a scientist without superpowers, yet he controlled time through technology and thus ruled the Multiverse.

Of course, having no superpowers was also his greatest weakness, which was why he was ultimately stabbed to death.

But that only showed that technology was also an extremely important force in Marvel.

Therefore, while cultivating, he had never stopped researching technology.

Under his rule, scientists were the only privileged class. They did not have to abide by family planning policies or mandatory military service.

And the rewards were substantial as well.

For example, the super artificial intelligence Deep Blue, artificial gravity chambers, Sanctuary II, Space Fortress, quantum entanglement projections, and so on.

As well as the spatial jammer currently remotely sealing off space.

Faced with his spatial blockade, what choice would Odin make?

If Odin forcibly tore through space to come over, Thanos would laugh himself to death.

After all, spatial jumps also created spatial rifts at the other end.

But even if they flew out of the blockade zone, it would be useless.

After seriously listening to Lucy's analysis, everyone in the fleet fell silent.

They had never expected a war that previously only required them to charge in and kill without thinking to become so troublesome.

They had not even seen the enemy yet, and they were already at a disadvantage.

Thor paced back and forth irritably. Seeing that no one spoke, he said impatiently, "Let's just use the Bifrost to charge over there. Even without Spaceships, the valor of us Asgardian warriors will be enough to destroy those cowards hiding in the shadows!"

The Bifrost could let them ignore the spatial blockade and reach their destination directly, but it could not transport cosmic warships.

Odin ignored his son and instead looked at Lucy. "How long will it take for us to fly out of the spatial blockade zone?"

In a cosmic war, abandoning cosmic warships and directly engaging in hand-to-hand combat was the most unwise tactic.

Even piloting cosmic warships with no energy was better than using the Bifrost.

Lucy lowered her head and pondered for a while before saying, "No matter what technology they have, the area of the spatial blockade cannot be too large. At most, one hour of travel at light speed should be enough to leave it."

Odin nodded. "Fine. We'll try a spatial jump again after flying for one hour."

Lucy nodded and began making arrangements for the fleet.

In fact, light speed was considered very slow in the universe. But without spatial jump technology, the speed limit of Spaceships could only approach light speed Infinity; they simply could not break past that limit.

One hour later.

Lucy returned to the Command Room with an ugly expression.

"Odin Wong, we are still within the spatial blockade zone."

Odin frowned again at that and said unhappily, "Didn't you say one hour of travel would be enough to leave it? What exactly is going on?"

Lucy shook her head. "I don't know either. Logically speaking, it should be impossible for them to have enough energy to blockade such a vast area, unless..."

"Unless what?"

Lucy hesitated for a moment. Seeing Odin's impatient expression, she could only say, "Unless they can move the blockade zone, and they can monitor us continuously."

Thor said in disbelief, "How is that possible? We are ten light-years away from the target. Unless they have divine clairvoyance like Heimdall, it would take ten years for them just to see us."

As his words fell, the control room sank into silence once more.

After a while, Lucy said, "Perhaps there is already a technological gap between us and them. They have mastered many technologies we know nothing about."

As her words fell, everyone's expressions changed, and they all lowered their heads, not daring to respond.

Because did that not mean Odin's policy of shutting off the country from the outside world had been wrong?

Odin understood the implication as well, and his expression immediately turned grim.

But now was not the time to trouble Lucy over it, so he could only endure it.

After a while, Sif, sensing that the atmosphere was off, spoke up. "Captain Lucy, what if we make a spatial jump somewhere else, replenish our energy, and then make another spatial jump?"

A woman whom Odin valued so highly that he even wanted to choose her as his daughter-in-law was naturally no fool. Her mind was exceptionally quick.

Thus, she quickly came up with a solution that was hardly a solution at all.

Lucy nodded upon hearing that. "Mm, we can try it."

After thinking for a moment, Odin said, "Fine. We'll try Sif's method."

With a decision made, Lucy quickly arranged for the fleet to make a spatial jump to a location one light-year away.

This spatial jump consumed five times more time than usual before a spatial rift was opened.

More than ten minutes later.

Asgard's twenty-five thousand Spaceships appeared in space nine light-years away from Thanos.

But from their dim shields, it was clear that the warships had already consumed more than half their energy.

Four hours later, Odin's flagship was the first to fully replenish its energy.

It was not until seven hours later that the medium and small warships gradually recovered their energy as well.

Just as Lucy prepared to continue the spatial jump, she discovered another problem.

"Odin Wong, the target area is under a spatial blockade."

Hearing that, Odin's face darkened again.

"Damn cowardly invaders!"

He truly could not understand why the other side had set up so many spatial blockades.

Would it not be better to fight openly and honorably? Why insist on resorting to all these fancy tricks?

Thor immediately said from the side, "Exactly. Those invaders are so cowardly that they must not be very strong. I say we should just make a spatial jump over there. At worst, after we defeat the enemy, we can have the rear dispatch ships to bring us back."

The Three Warriors of Asgard immediately chimed in as well.

"Prince Thor is right. Those enemies are so cowardly that they must be about as strong as goblins."

"Yeah, just kill them all."

"We are Asgardian warriors. We are invincible."

Odin ignored his son and his three lackeys, instead looking at Sif and Lucy. "Do either of you have any good ideas?"

Compared to those four fools, he preferred talking to people with brains.

If Thor had not been his biological son, he would have wanted to slap him to death.

But to his disappointment, even Sif and Lucy shook their heads, indicating that they had no idea.
