First War Against Thanos

Thor initially views Sanctuary II as a prize he wants to seize and advocates charging Thanos's fleet through the Bifrost rather than dealing with its spatial blockade. Odin rejects his approach, warning that the conflict is more serious than Thor's usual campaigns against rebellions. 15 17

When the Warriors Three challenge Thanos, Thor attempts to stop Fandral and Hogun after Volstagg is killed, but arrives too late. He then attacks Thanos in rage, only to be overwhelmed and sent flying after Tyrant's Blade nearly cleaves Mjolnir apart. 21 22

Thor is nearly killed when Thanos redirects Odin's energy attack into him. Sif retrieves him while Odin continues the duel, and Frigga later exhausts much of her magic healing his injuries. 23 24 31

Defense of Asgard

After recovering, Thor trains with the repaired Mjolnir and acknowledges that inherited royal power cannot protect him forever. His efforts reveal a bottleneck that he cannot overcome through ordinary training. 31

During Thanos's renewed invasion, Thor defends Asgard's left wing against Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight. He later remains outside Asgard's protective barrier with Heimdall to cover the retreat, ignoring Odin's order to withdraw because he is consumed by rage toward Thanos. 33 35

Final Battle and Exile to Blue Star

Thor destroys several of Thanos's warships in the final battle, forcing Thanos to intervene personally. Thanos shatters Mjolnir with Tyrant's Blade and sends Thor flying; Odin delivers him to Frigga before joining Hela against Thanos. 38

Heimdall eventually transports Thor to Blue Star. The Ancient One heals his external wounds at Kamar-Taj, but cannot remove the Destructive Power still consuming him internally. Thor remains unable to return to Asgard or learn the fate of Odin and Heimdall. 42 43
