A few hours later.
More than a hundred councilors crossed the Bifrost and arrived on the Asgard Continent, entering the divine hall.
By then, Odin's complexion had returned to normal, with no sign that he had been injured.
As the gods took their seats, Odin rose to his feet with Gungnir in hand.
"Councilors, we are facing an unprecedented disaster. Enemies from the Panlong Galaxy have invaded through a newly formed Wormhole. I need you to send all your fleets to support us."
As soon as Odin finished speaking, the gods below immediately broke into discussion.
"Isn't the Panlong Galaxy near the Milky Way?"
"Yeah, how did they get here? Weren't all the Wormholes closed?"
"What kind of enemy could make the God King ask us for help?"
"Could the Panlong Galaxy's chief god have been killed? Otherwise, why would they invade us?"
"Impossible. How have we received no news at all?"
Watching the gods grow increasingly disorderly, Odin could not help but tap Gungnir against the floor.
Two heavy thuds instantly silenced everyone.
Odin nodded in satisfaction and immediately said, "Every councilor must send ten small Spaceships and one medium Spaceship to Asgard as reinforcements."
The reason he did not demand large Spaceships was because only Asgard could produce them.
Any councilor who dared manufacture large Spaceships in private would be charged with treason.
The gods' expressions changed as soon as they heard Odin's order.
Ever since the Asgardian Gods had ruled the Milky Way and shut down all Wormholes, there had been no more wars, at most the occasional suppression of rebellions.
This had led everyone to believe that, rather than spending money building Spaceships, they might as well enjoy themselves.
Now that everyone present was being asked to provide so many Spaceships, probably only a handful could afford it.
Before long, the gods began crying poverty.
"God King, my planet has always been impoverished. We have no resources at all. I simply cannot provide that many space warships."
"Yeah, same here. There are only three old relics from a thousand years ago in my entire warehouse."
"Your Majesty, I'm truly suffering. Those lowly commoners rebelled not long ago and destroyed all my warships."
"You all have it good. I still don't have the money to build a palace. How could I possibly have money to manufacture Spaceships?"
Listening to his subordinates complain, Odin immediately frowned.
A thousand years ago, if any Asgardian had heard that foreign enemies were invading, they would have immediately donated everything without compensation just to win the war.
He had never expected that after only a thousand years, the descendants of the Asgardian Gods would have become this corrupt.
Shaking his head, he tapped Gungnir against the ground again and said, "For those unable to meet the quota, I will send people to collect equivalent resources. This meeting is adjourned!"
He had originally wanted to offer some encouragement, then continue distributing a few planets.
But now, he had no such thoughts left.
These councilors had disappointed him too much.
After the meeting ended, he immediately sent people to notify the subordinates who had escaped to flee elsewhere.
That way, Thanos would not learn the coordinates of the Asgard Continent so quickly.
Then, enduring his injuries, he went to Thor's palace.
Thor lay on the bed, pale-faced and unconscious.
The Queen of the Gods, Frigga, stood beside the bed. She held a staff in one hand while soft white light radiated from the other.
Frigga was not actually skilled in healing magic, but for the sake of saving her son, she had still chosen to do it herself.
Thor's injuries were too severe. Only someone with Sub-Skyfather-level strength could heal him, and across the entire Asgard Continent, she was the only one who possessed Sub-Skyfather strength and knew healing magic.
When Odin saw the Queen of the Gods' forehead covered in sweat, his heart ached.
He stepped forward and said with concern, "Why don't you rest for a while?"
He did not know when Thanos would arrive, so preserving their strength was the top priority.
He did not want his side to lose a Sub-Skyfather-level combatant before the battle even began.
But Frigga merely gave Odin a faint glance. She said nothing and did not stop what she was doing.
To her, only Thor was the love of her life. Odin was merely a partner in a political marriage.
To outsiders, they appeared to be a loving couple and a model husband and wife. In truth, there had never been love between them. There had only been a transaction, and even a trace of hatred.
A thousand years ago, after the death of the Witch Clan's chief, the clan Frigga belonged to had gradually been encroached upon by forces from the other eight realms.
In order to protect her people, she had been left with no choice but to enter into a political marriage with Odin.
But after she helped Odin rule the Nine Realms, he began suppressing the Witch Clan.
He had even sacrificed the Valkyrie Clan solely to exile her eldest daughter, Hela.
It was simply because Hela had awakened her witch bloodline, suppressing the Asgardian Gods' bloodline, and Odin feared that the bloodline would no longer remain pure.
But at that time, Frigga was already pregnant with her second child. In the end, she suppressed her hatred and could only watch helplessly as her daughter was exiled into Alternate Space.
When she married Odin, they had signed a contract stating that she would be his only legal wife for life.
Therefore, everything in Asgard would ultimately be inherited by her children.
She only had to wait for Odin to die of old age.
Of course, before then, she had to endure everything he did.
That was why she had ignored the fact that Odin had fooled around with other women every day in the past.
It was not that she had not seen it, but that she did not want Odin to seize upon it as a pretext to tear up the contract.
Seeing Frigga's icy gaze, Odin felt anger rise in his heart, but he quickly suppressed it.
With a great enemy at hand, this was not the time for internal conflict.
But he had no such patience for Sif, who stood nearby.
His expression darkened with fury, and he raised Gungnir, firing an energy shockwave.
With a hum.
Sif had never expected Odin to attack her. Caught completely unprepared, she was struck head-on. A massive hole instantly opened in her abdomen, making it seem as if she had nearly been cut in half.
With a bang, Sif collapsed onto the floor, vomiting blood in great mouthfuls.
Her mouth opened and closed as her eyes stared fixedly at Odin, seemingly demanding to know why he had killed her.
Odin lowered Gungnir and said furiously, "Who gave you the authority to bring the flagship back? Do you know that your actions caused the defeat at the front lines and the deaths of over a million Asgardians? It was you who killed them! And according to the code, desertion in battle is punishable by death!"
Upon hearing this, Sif could only close her eyes unwillingly.
Damn it. If I'd known, I wouldn't have saved that useless bastard.
