Spirit Hall Library and Qin Xuan Rivalry

Yu Xiaogang first appears in Spirit Hall alongside Bibi Dong, carrying a book marked “Spirit Hall Top Secret.” He correctly deduces that Qin Xuan created a scorched ravine, earning Bibi Dong's deliberate praise and briefly restoring his pride. 4

Qin Xuan then weaponizes Xiaogang's vanity, prompting him to reveal confidential information about Spirit Hall's elders, the Six-Winged Angel Martial Soul, and the Angel Set Soul Bones. When Xiaogang is caught accessing restricted material, Qin uses the threat of exposure to coerce and publicly manipulate him. 5 10

Publication, Collapse, and Expulsion

With Bibi Dong's support, Xiaogang completes Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soul and intends to become the continent's foremost theorist. He relies on Bibi Dong's status to arrange publication and believes fame will restore his standing within the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. 52 64

The publication instead causes a public crisis when ordinary Soul Masters follow its generalized ring-absorption recommendations and die. Complaints reach Spirit Hall, major factions denounce the work as impractical, and Xiaogang's reputation collapses. 86

To protect the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan from political retaliation, Yu Yuanzhen formally expels his son. Xiaogang remains unaware at first, returning from Sea God Island expecting recognition before learning that both Spirit Hall and his clan have rejected him. 91 132 133

The Immortal Herb Choice

After his disgrace, Xiaogang clings to Bibi Dong as his remaining source of status and hopes she can help cure his Martial Soul mutation. Qin Xuan presents him with a choice: take Bibi Dong and abandon the Immortal Herb, or take the herb and leave Spirit City. 142 143

Xiaogang immediately chooses the Immortal Herb. Bibi Dong recognizes that his ambition outweighs his attachment to her and ends their relationship. 143 Mo Ya and Bai Feng subsequently rob Xiaogang of both the herb and his Soul Tool, leaving him injured and humiliated. 145 146

Teacher of Shrek’s Talents

Blacklisted by Spirit Hall and unable to return to his clan, Xiaogang survives through low-level Soul Beast hunting and travels with Flender. He uses his theoretical knowledge to impress Flender, then meets Liu Erlong, forming the altered Golden Iron Triangle. 185 186 207

Years later, Chang Gong Miao deliberately seeks Xiaogang out and becomes his first disciple, giving him the validation he has long craved. Tang San later becomes his second disciple, though Tang San privately regards Xiaogang as useful chiefly because of his old connection to Bibi Dong. 321 322 323

Return to Spirit City and Imprisonment

Seeking information on cultivating Tang San's Twin Martial Souls, Xiaogang returns to Spirit City using an obsolete Papal Decree. Spirit Hall guards reject the decree, beat him, and send him to the Enforcement Hall, where he reveals his purpose under torture. 461

Brought before Qin Xuan, he attempts to invoke Bibi Dong and Liu Erlong as protection. Both women reject his belief that they ever loved him; Bibi Dong tears off one of his arms and Liu Erlong burns out one of his eyes. Qin Xuan keeps him alive and sends him to Cell Eleven as a prisoner. 462
