The portal's golden sparks faded as Xiao Han stepped into a dim space.

This place was completely different from the outside. The walls were covered in black veins resembling biological tissue, while the floor writhed faintly beneath his feet, as if he were standing on the organs of some living creature.

The air was thick with a stench of rot and metal that made him nauseous.

Xiao Han's Super-Sense detected a high concentration of viral particles.

Without hesitation, he activated the Biofield's filtration.

Xiao Han's eyes glowed faintly with golden light as the Biofield silently enveloped his entire body.

He walked forward slowly, his Super-Sight piercing through layer after layer of obstacles and locking onto a figure at the deepest part of the laboratory.

"Reed Richards."

His voice echoed through the empty laboratory.

Ahead, a lanky figure slowly turned around.

Mr. Fantastic—or rather, the Reed Richards he had once been.

He had completely changed. His body was twisted and elongated, like a stretched-out corpse. His skin was an unnatural grayish green, and his eye sockets were deeply sunken, yet they gleamed with an eerie light of reason.

"Ah... a new guest."

Reed's voice was hoarse and slow, yet surprisingly clear. "Who are you? There's no information on you in this world."

Xiao Han stopped and faced him. "It seems you've retained your sanity."

Reed bared his teeth, revealing rotten gums. "Sanity? No! I'm simply more lucidly aware of my hunger than they are."

His neck suddenly stretched out, his head drawing eerily close to Xiao Han as he inhaled deeply. "Your flesh and blood... smell very special."

Xiao Han did not retreat. He merely said coldly, "You created this disaster."

"Disaster?"

Reed suddenly burst into laughter, the sound like grinding metal. "This is evolution! Humanity—no, all life—will ultimately become one!"

His body abruptly split apart. Dozens of tentacle-like limbs erupted from his back, each covered in spikes and suckers as they swept toward Xiao Han!

The golden light in Xiao Han's eyes flared as Heat Vision swept across them!

"Psh!"

The tentacles were cleanly severed, and foul-smelling fluid sprayed everywhere. Yet the severed limbs writhed across the ground and rapidly regenerated.

Reed's body twisted and deformed like rotten mud. The black veins throughout the entire laboratory suddenly came alive—the walls, ceiling, and floor all became his weapons!

"You can't kill me..."

Reed's voice came from all directions. "I have perfectly fused with the virus! I am the plague itself!"

Xiao Han rose into the air, his Biofield fully activated, shattering every black tentacle that came at him.

He scanned his surroundings as his Super Brain analyzed at high speed. Reed's body had completely mutated and merged with the entire laboratory.

Ordinary physical attacks were ineffective, and Heat Vision could only temporarily slow his regeneration.

He began scanning for a weakness.

His Super-Sight detected fluctuations from an energy core directly beneath the laboratory!

Xiao Han understood instantly. Reed was not invincible; his consciousness still depended on a core!

He dove sharply and punched the ground!

Concrete and metal structures shattered like paper. Xiao Han blasted through several floors and plunged into the deepest underground level.

This was a massive spherical space. At its center floated a pulsating black tumor covered in vein-like energy conduits, continuously pumping the virus into the entire city.

"So that's it..."

Xiao Han narrowed his eyes. "You turned yourself into a viral brood nest."

The tumor suddenly split open, and Reed's face emerged from within, savage and crazed. "You cannot stop evolution... Join us and become eternal!"

Xiao Han stopped wasting words. Golden light surged from his eyes as solar-flare-level energy gathered in his palms.

"Let's end this."

He pressed his hands together, and a blazing white beam laced with magic erupted forth, instantly engulfing the entire tumor!

"No!!!"

Reed's screams twisted and faded within the torrent of energy. The black tumor melted away like ice beneath the blazing sun.

The entire laboratory began shaking violently, and the writhing black veins withered and fell away.

Yet Xiao Han's Super Hearing still caught roars rising and falling throughout the city.

The zombie heroes had not stopped moving.

[Sir, secondary infected subjects have not lost activity,] JARVIS immediately analyzed.

[According to analysis, the virus has fully integrated into the hosts' cells and become the foundational structure of their lives.]

Xiao Han frowned and flew to the laboratory bench.

Reed's research notes lay scattered across its surface, their pages densely filled with mad yet precise data.

He flipped through them rapidly, his Super Brain digesting every detail in fractions of a second.

"Damn it."

The final conclusion in the notes was clear and despairing.

This virus was not an external infection. It activated some dormant primordial code within a living being's DNA.

Once awakened, it could not be reversed.

Forcibly removing the virus was equivalent to killing the host.

Reed had written on the final page in frenzied handwriting.

"We were never infected. We have finally become what we were meant to be!"

Xiao Han silently closed the notebook.

He could not save this world.

JARVIS spoke softly.

Xiao Han stood atop the burning Baxter Building, with Reed Richards's viral brood nest completely incinerated beneath his feet.

The entire city was still wailing, while the roars of zombie heroes rose and fell without end.

Spider-Woman's once-agile body now had joints twisted backward. Webbing sprayed from her rotten glands, the mucus mixed with virus.

Her shriek sounded like glass scraping together.

Blade's half-vampire physiology had made his mutation even more horrifying. His fangs had grown down to his jaw, and his eyes were blood-red.

His silver sword had rusted away, replaced by fingernails like bone blades.
