Baimu checked while lying down, on his stomach, standing up, and even jumping. The level reward was seven levels every time.

He'd gotten his hopes up for nothing!
He grabbed Hydreigon beside him and tugged its petal-like neck fur back and forth.
"Argh!"
"Zweh? Zweh?"
Hydreigon looked innocent and alarmed. Shiny Gengar, which had been about to approach, quietly stopped.
It turned away and whistled, pretending not to see a thing. Better not get caught in the crossfire.
The tugging went on for a full half minute.
Only then did Baimu recover from the disappointment of the reward not increasing.

The simulated person was real, and so was the story. The fictional part was that last little stretch.
In short, the nurse had not inherited an Elite Four position. She might not even have competed in the Champion League.
Instead, with her family's help, she had opened a hospital and taken in many abandoned Pokémon.
In a way, that choice was truer to what the nurse had
