Their differing beliefs had sparked the fighting. With both settlements too powerful for anyone to restrain, ordinary people caught in the conflict, like Boro, had been forced to flee their homes.

If he was right, they were the predecessors of the Diamond Team and the Pearl Team. The era he found himself in was even earlier than the story of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
After all, Pokémon Legends: Arceus was set close to modern times, with plenty of technology.
