Darkrai pondered.
It looked into Baimu's "sincere" eyes, hesitated briefly, then nodded.
"Lai."
Wild Pokémon that were rescued often naturally felt affection toward their rescuers, much like the Darkrai from the movie.
It had once been saved by the movie's heroine's ancestor. Years later, to protect the garden she had left behind, it charged at the Time-Space Twin Dragons locked in battle rather than retreat, nearly losing its life.
The Darkrai before them was much the same. In terms of in-game friendship, it was at the level where it had not been caught, yet a friendship checker would still say, "It feels like you two have a good relationship."
Naturally, it would not refuse Baimu's earnest invitation.
Of course, the most important thing was that it felt lost about where to go afterward.
When it had gone out for a walk earlier, Darkrai had discovered that beyond this human city lay either an endless ocean or unbroken snow-covered mountains.
The unfamiliar surroundings and unclear circumstances prompted it to accept the invitation from the person before it.
Even though they had only known each other for a few hours.
"Excellent!"
Baimu happily clapped his hands. "Platinum Silver Mountain has welcomed a new member! It's time to celebrate!"
"Roar!"
The Pokémon responded in unison.
Whether they wanted to or not, they had to give their Trainer some face.
Mew, mixed among them, wore a broad smile and acted as though it belonged perfectly, making the surrounding Pokémon glance sideways at it.
Darkrai was a little embarrassed by such an "enthusiastic" reception. For a while, it did not know how to respond, stumbling over its words for ages without managing to form a complete sentence.
Baimu reassured it not to feel pressured and told it to simply do whatever made it comfortable.
