The final match.
The organizers gave Baimu's Pokémon half an hour to rest.
He let Mawile and Chansey out, checked each of them, and gave them Leppa Berry juice to replenish the energy they had spent.
Then he lit some incense and massaged them, helping them relax after the intense emotions of the match.
In games, Leppa Berries restored depleted PP. In practice, they sped up the recovery of a Pokémon's energy, making them perfect with another match about to begin.
The semifinal had gone so smoothly partly because Mawile had caught its opponents off guard and held a type advantage. Its explosive speed left Gigalith unable to respond, but the fact that Gigalith had endured Iron Head and needed a follow-up Power-Up Punch suggested its level was hardly low.
Donphan was no different. It had somehow dodged the Ice Storm Mawile had aimed in advance, then quickly regained its footing and counterattacked with Giga Impact. Without the power Mawile had built up through repeated Swords Dances and Power-Up Punches, it would not have won so easily.
As for Crustle... there was no need to dwell on it. Another unlucky opponent had been shut down by Chansey's Telekinesis. Still, the fact that Shell Smash had helped it break free of the psychic hold showed that Telekinesis could not overpower everything. Another Shell Smash might even have let it escape completely.
Unfortunately, Crustle had lost its nerve.
To be fair, Telekinesis had quite a few drawbacks. Most importantly, without Chansey continuously exerting force, it merely left the target floating.
That also meant Pokémon capable of moving through the air were not particularly afraid of it. Against bird Pokémon, the move was not all that useful.
Of course.
Unless Chansey was being foolish, it would use Gravity against bird Pokémon. Once they
