Baimu asked curiously, "Where... did this come from?"
How could Bewear have a Z-Crystal? It wasn't a Totem Pokémon.
From its den?
Even less likely.
The direction it had just come from was nowhere near its den. Besides, if there had been a Z-Crystal inside, James's machine should have detected it—unless the machine was faulty.
"Guma~"
Bewear's cry was calm.
Meowth stared. "You said you got it from Totem Gumshoos?"
Got it?
Could you just ask for one of these things and get it?
Baimu had a feeling it wasn't that simple. But although Bewear spent time with Team Rocket, it didn't share their habit of taking other people's things.
He remembered that Nebby had nearly fallen into Team Rocket's hands more than once, and Bewear had brought Nebby back every time.
And after Bewear defeated Pheromosa, it had faced a whole scattering of Z-Crystals but picked up only Team Rocket's Darkinium Z and Mimikyu Z.
When Baimu still didn't reach out, Bewear stuffed the Normalium Z straight into his pocket.
"Guwu-gu!"
"All right. Thank you, Bewear."
Baimu thanked Bewear with a complicated expression. He'd thought he could only obtain a Z-Crystal by defeating a Totem Pokémon. Apparently, defeating Bewear worked too.
Mega Mawile quietly returned to her usual form. "Chido~"
By then,
the sky was beginning to darken.
He had spent almost the entire afternoon at Bewear's den.
If I go looking for Hala now, maybe I'll run into him?
The thought flashed through his mind. No matter how much the Island King traveled, surely he had to go home for dinner.
But on second thought...
Forget it.
Showing up uninvited at someone's home at night would be awfully presumptuous.
Baimu collected himself. "It's getting late. Let's leave it here for today.
