The first spike pierced the Swordfish Zombie's left eye, the second followed straight into the Zombie's throat, and the third struck the propeller's fuel tank directly.
The Swordfish Zombie suddenly exploded mid-dash, fire bursting into an orange-red sphere beneath the water.
(Fire could burn underwater... amazing, right? SpongeBob did it too.)
What followed was... a golden barrage of Star Projectiles.
They fired simultaneously from the five pointed tips of four Starfruits. Just how dense was the barrage?
Looking out through the observation window, the entire sea had been dyed flowing gold.
(Lin Yue: Once, the Queen Mother drew the Milky Way to separate the Cowherd and Weaver Girl.)
(Starfruits: Now, Starfruits draw the Milky Way to stop an entire company of Zombies.)
Each Star Projectile was not large, but sheer numbers made up for everything—filling the sky, packed tightly together, layered upon layer, weaving an ever-expanding golden net beneath the sea.
Starfruits: ☆?> x <?☆
(I said I was spinning! I said I was spinning! Are your ears broken? Four brothers synchronized... rotation speed! Forget mahjong! Just tell me if this is fast enough!)
The sound of dense golden barrages striking Zombies at the same frequency... echoed across the seafloor.
It was not a heavy, muffled rumble, but a light yet relentless series of taps—steady and continuous, without interruption or pause.
The golden barrage intertwined with tail spikes, forming a circular kill zone dozens of meters wide around the submarine.
No Zombie that entered that area could hope to leave intact.
Inside the submarine closest to Lin Yue, a bearded middle-aged man... had his mouth hanging open... wide enough to fit an entire KFC meal.
He had just repelled the last wave of Zombies charging his defensive sector. His submarine still had more than forty percent durability left, barely enough to hold on, but he had already prepared to withdraw at any time—the Kelp Defense Line was about to collapse, blue whales were ramming the net, Zombies were pouring in. No matter how he looked at it, this battle was almost impossible to continue.
Even in the Blue Star Federation... a battle this disastrous would mean voluntarily abandoning the defensive line.
The middle-aged man... screwed on his water bottle cap, rubbed his sore eyes, and casually glanced outside.
Then his bottle fell to the floor.
Golden light reflected across his observation window, dyeing the entire submarine interior a warm gold.
What he saw was not a barrage, but an ocean.
A flowing, surging, overwhelming golden ocean spreading outward from one submarine, covering more than half the sea.
Red streaks constantly darted through that golden expanse, every one of them a spike harvesting Zombies.
"What is that... fireworks? Underwater fireworks?" Other nearby players... rose to their feet as well.
As they watched the ever-expanding golden barrage, their expressions shifted from surprise to blankness, then from blankness to an indescribable shock.
They watched as the golden barrage covered the Zombie horde pouring through the breach, covering more and more of the water.
More and more people stepped up to their submarines' observation windows.
"Whose boat is that?"
"Can't see clearly. But look at that barrage density—four Starfruits? No way. And there's a Kitty with absurd attack speed. With that kind of strength, is that some big shot from the First Federation?"
"School uniform or casual clothes? Can anyone tell?"
Someone narrowed their eyes and carefully looked in Lin Yue's direction, but Lin Yue had prepared for this long ago.
He had entered the event wearing casual clothes—a dark gray zip-up hoodie.
He took off the hoodie and draped it over his head, leaving only his eyes peering through a gap in the hem toward the Zombies.
"My whole head is covered... If anyone wants to find me in real life, no chance!" Lin Yue was certain. Who could recognize him looking like this?
"Judging by his build, this guy is still a student, right?" The people in that submarine finally made their judgment based on Lin Yue's somewhat slender figure.
"He's not that old, early twenties at most. He might still be in school."
"Students these days are this ruthless already—"
"Whoosh~"
The sound of leaking air came from the Zombie horde.
A Deep-Diving Zombie's oxygen tank was slashed open by Kitty's spike, and compressed gas blasted out.
Before the Deep-Diving Zombie could get within ten meters of the submarine, Kitty had punctured its oxygen tank—would it rush over faster because of the leak?
Not happening.
Before it could even get close... the oxygen tank would go "bang."
Kitty... specifically targeted oxygen tanks. Every leak got stabbed, and every stab led to an explosion.
The Deep-Diving Zombies never even got the chance to accelerate before the Star Projectile barrage finished them off halfway there, turning them into sieves.
But there were simply too many Zombies.
Driven by the ocean currents, the Swordfish Zombies reached terrifying speeds.
Even with Kitty and the Starfruits firing at full power, quite a few Zombies still broke through the barrage blockade.
Three Swordfish Zombies emerged from a relatively sparse section of the barrage on the right. The bone blades on their swordfish snouts gleamed coldly beneath the searchlights, while the propellers on their backs burned at their limits, trailing three straight lines of dark red flame through the water.
They charged side by side, their target clear—the submarine's right-side porthole, its weakest point of defense.
On the right side, there was... Bok Choy.
Bok Choy... had been waiting all along.
From the moment Lin Yue shouted, "Full firepower," Bok Choy had stood motionless at the fourth row, fourth column.
It was not spacing out. It was charging up.
The rage from the Breakthrough Fist Technique... had been drawn into its fibers.
Its arms hung naturally at its sides, its fists slightly clenched. The faint white ridges over its knuckles glimmered with a dark sheen beneath the planting grid's lights.
(It was perfectly normal for bok choy to have white ridges...)
Bok Choy... watched the three Swordfish Zombies charge toward it, watched even more Zombies following behind them—Deep-Diving Zombies, Conehead Zombies, Buckethead Zombies—packed tightly together as the current pushed them forward.
The corner of Bok Choy's mouth twitched slightly. It was not a smile, but the final preparation... before a fist moved.
"Bok Choy! Smash them!" Lin Yue's voice came from the control console.
The Power Lily's petals opened to their widest angle at once. An Energy Pea flew from its pistil and was swallowed by Bok Choy.
Bok Choy's body suddenly shuddered—Super Intelligence was speaking. It was time to use Super Strength.
The instant Super Strength flowed into it, its arms visibly swelled by a full size. The presence radiating from the entire bok choy plant forced the surrounding currents back by several centimeters.
Bok Choy: (#`皿')<Rage rage rage rage rage rage!!!
The Swordfish Zombie in front suddenly slowed down.
The Zombie rider on its back instinctively tugged at the swordfish's dorsal fin—it was a wariness etched deep into Zombie instinct.
Its brain might have rotted away almost completely, but its body remembered that when a creature gave off this level of presence, it was best to reconsider whether the current decision was correct.
Swordfish Zombie: Not charging! Something's wrong—
Deep-Diving Zombie: +1
But it was too late.
The currents pushed them from behind. Even if the Zombies in front wanted to brake, the ones behind would crash into them and force them onward.
Besides, Bok Choy gave them no chance to stop. It stepped forward, raised its right fist from its waist, spread its fingers, and suddenly grabbed forward.
Centered on Bok Choy, the seawater within a 5×5 area churned violently.
An invisible force field instantly spread out—the same suction force it had used against ordinary Zombies before, only larger, stronger, and more tyrannical this time.
Every Zombie in range lost control of its body at once, seized by an invisible giant hand and forcibly dragged from its own lane, gathering... one grid directly in front of Bok Choy.
Three Swordfish Zombies, five Deep-Diving Zombies, six or seven Conehead and Buckethead Zombies, all crammed into a narrow space, Zombies piled atop Zombies.
This was the closest the Zombies had ever gotten to the submarine.
Lin Yue stood before the observation window, separated from them by only a layer of glass.
He could see the details on every Zombie's face—the frontmost Swordfish Zombie still had a strand of optic nerve dangling from its eye socket.
Beside it... one Deep-Diving Zombie's helmet visor had completely shattered, revealing swollen, distorted features soaked by seawater.
The Buckethead Zombie behind it had already taken three dents in its Buckethead from the Star Projectile barrage.
The Zombies saw Lin Yue.
Separated by glass and a layer of seawater, that human was within reach.
A dim crimson glow lit up in the Swordfish Zombie's eye socket—the light of hunger, the light of seeing prey.
Swordfish Zombie: Delicious brain!!!
It desperately shoved its way forward from the crowded pile of Zombies, stretching its arm to the limit.
That hand crept closer and closer to the observation window, its fingertips nearly touching the glass.
The Swordfish Zombie... stretched as far as it could.
Its joints scraped under unbearable strain, but it did not care.
It... only wanted to reach a little farther, get a little closer, and dig that "brain" behind the glass out of its metal shell.
"ORA!!!"
Bok Choy... Suppresses Zombies
"ORA!!!"
Bok Choy's fist arrived.
The first punch blocked upward.
The back of its fist struck the elbow joint of the Swordfish Zombie's outstretched arm with perfect precision.
The force traveled up the forearm and exploded at the elbow joint, shattering both the Zombie's ulna and radius.
"ORA—ORA—ORA—ORA—ORA—ORA—"
A torrential storm of fists covered every inch of space before Bok Choy.
Every punch... landed precisely on the Zombies' most fatal points—heads, throats, joints.
The first punch shattered the Swordfish Zombie's jaw. The second pierced through a Deep-Diving Zombie's diving suit and slammed straight into its chest cavity. The third smashed a Conehead Zombie's Conehead and skull into fragments together.
The fists moved too fast to make out where each one landed. All that could be seen was a blurry mass of green flashing wildly through the Zombie horde, like a humanoid meat grinder.
Every punch struck with the force of a thousand pounds.
More than a dozen Zombies were packed together and tried to retreat, but... with the Zombies gathered together now, even if they wanted to back away, they would crash into other Zombies.
The Deep-Diving Zombies' bulky diving suits were useless before the fists—their copper breastplates were dented by one blow, and the second punched through the indentation straight into their chests. The crisp crack of breaking ribs spread dully through the water.
Their diving equipment was smashed apart, oxygen spraying out wildly, but the Deep-Diving Zombies no longer had time to care about the leaks—their bodies were being destroyed inch by inch by the fists.
After taking an unknown number of consecutive blows, the foremost Swordfish Zombie finally found an incredibly tiny opening.
Other Zombies' corpses had raised its body half an inch. The wind from one punch skimmed over its head and missed.
As long as it rammed forward, as long as it destroyed... Bok Choy, it still had a chance to eat that "brain."
Bok Choy: (σ;Д)σ Death sentence!
Excitement appeared on the Swordfish Zombie's face.
The swordfish snout was only a fist's distance from... Bok Choy's chest. It could even feel the tip touching Bok Choy's body—
"ORA—"
Bok Choy's uppercut blasted upward from below.
This punch was not aimed at the Zombie. It was aimed at the swordfish's spike.
"Crack—"
Its fist collided head-on with the swordfish's hardest bony snout, producing a crisp, ear-piercing impact.
The swordfish snout—the bone spike this swordfish had been so proud of, which had pierced countless prey in the deep sea... snapped beneath Bok Choy's fist like a dry branch.
