Lin En and his companions arrived at the shipping lane of Atilan's Gate, but did not join the queue to enter.
At Lin En's command, the Night Goddess and the Mother of Tears activated their Gellar Fields, found a relatively calm spatial fissure near the shipping lane of Atilan's Gate, and headed straight into it.
The other ships queuing in the shipping lane of Atilan's Gate watched helplessly as the two warships left the lane and sailed into the Great Rift beside it.
What was in that area?
Nothing.
Only the churning purple light of the Great Rift itself, and spatial fissures torn open by warp storms.
Those fissures were scattered irregularly on either side of the shipping lane, like enormous, bloody maws connecting to the twisted Warp.
A man undergoing inspection hurriedly tapped the guard beside him. "Sir, did those two ships take a wrong turn? They've gone into the Great Rift!"
The guard irritably slapped his hand away. "Stop making a fuss. The angels' business is none of yours."
The Night Goddess turned, its bow slowly veering away from the main shipping lane of Atilan's Gate toward the churning purple light ahead.
The Mother of Tears followed close behind.
The two ships flew without the slightest hesitation, engines at full power, their exhaust trailing two ribbons of blue light as they plunged straight into that purple chaos.
They vanished into it.
Eyes aboard more than a thousand ships followed those two black silhouettes until they disappeared.
Everyone aboard the queued ships was dumbstruck.
A new announcement rang out over the navy's communications channel:
"Today, we have the honor of witnessing the Emperor's angels embark on a new abyssal crusade. Rejoice, subjects of the Emperor! Let us also pray for the angels. May the Emperor bless them with
