Cretacia Goes Silent

Phoros and the others stayed on Baal for another two days.

During those two days, many Successor Chapters departed Baal for their own bases. In the end, only their three Chapters remained.

That was because, after the celebratory banquet, Lin En had slept like the dead for two straight days.

He slept through everything. Nothing could wake him.

Cecilia, Iron Hammer, Phoros, Gabriel, Sentoyor, and Dante had all come by, but none of them could wake Lin En.

On the first day, no one thought much of it. They figured Lin En was exhausted and needed a proper rest, so they even tiptoed around for fear of waking him.

By the second day, though, they were getting worried.

Phoros, Gabriel, and Sentoyor all stood guard outside Lin En's door.

By the second afternoon, even Dante could no longer sit still.

He came from the command post himself, paced twice outside the door, then promptly sent an attendant to fetch an Apothecary.

The Apothecary hurried over with his medical kit. He slipped into the room and scanned Lin En, who lay wrapped in his blanket.

A moment later, the Apothecary stepped quietly back out. Looking relieved, he told Dante, "Chapter Master, I've examined Lord Lin En. There's nothing wrong with him. He's simply in a deep sleep after extreme exhaustion, and his body is repairing itself. There's no need to wake him."

Only then did Dante and the others feel somewhat reassured.

Lin En slept until the following evening.

At dusk, Lin En finally woke and stepped out of his room.

The sun hung low over Arx Angelicum. Its light was soft rather than glaring, pleasantly warm.
