Green agreed to Cyrabelle's request and summoned General James's Ghost from the Graveyard.

After some time adjusting, General James had recovered most of his memories. But becoming undead had changed the way he thought. Even if he regained every memory, he would never be the man he once was.

At the sight of Cyrabelle, General James instinctively snapped to attention and bowed his head, though he no longer called himself her subordinate.

Cyrabelle looked at the subordinate who had served beside her for nearly ten years, now a translucent Ghost, and felt a tangle of emotions.

For some inexplicable reason, even the iron-willed Cyrabelle suddenly felt the sorrow of a hare watching another hare die. General James had died this time. Next time, it might be her, or someone she cared about.

Cyrabelle gritted her teeth almost imperceptibly and pushed those tangled thoughts aside. Composing herself, she said, "James, I know what happened to you. Now I'm giving you a choice. You can become a Lich and live on, or embrace death and meet your final end. Tell me what you choose."

General James's Ghost froze, surprised that he still had a choice. He fell into thought, looking from Green to Cyrabelle. With his thoughts still sluggish, he weighed the merits of each path as best he could and searched his heart for the answer.

For more than ten minutes, the office remained silent.

Neither Green nor Cyrabelle hurried General James.

At last, General James made up his mind. He bowed to Cyrabelle and said, "Thank you for looking after me, my lady. But I've already died once. Since I was fortunate enough to become undead and have a chance to keep living, I won't give it up. Please grant me this."

Cyrabelle nodded. She felt neither pleased nor disappointed.
