Green sat in the carriage, but his earlier delight had vanished. His face was even a little pale, and cold sweat beaded on his forehead. Just before climbing in, he had felt an intense urge to look back, but he had forced himself to resist. He stepped into the carriage stiffly and slammed the door. Only inside that enclosed space did he finally breathe a little easier.

"Can you still sense that presence?" Green took two deep breaths, trying to compose himself, then asked in a low voice, almost as if talking to himself.

"Not anymore. He didn't detect me, and he isn't watching you, Master." A slightly husky but lovely female voice sounded inside the carriage. Then the spirit of the Six-Headed Snake Woman appeared before Green, with six heads, twelve arms, a woman's body, and a serpent's tail.

As a spirit, the Six-Headed Snake Woman could change her size at will. At the moment, she was only a dozen or so centimeters tall, translucent and floating in midair.

Ever since the Graveyard had certified the Six-Headed Snake Woman, Green had placed great importance on her. He had brought her along specifically for this arms deal with Old One-Eye.

Green estimated that the Six-Headed Snake Woman's strength was roughly equal to that of an intermediate Formal Rank Necromancer, perhaps even a little greater, though she had not reached the advanced level. Even so, with a combat rating of 59, she was unquestionably the strongest force at Green's disposal—and his greatest hidden trump card.
