"Yo, just a brat?" The man walked around to face Aeneas and got a clear look at him. "You little punk, what are you carrying behind you? Hand it over!"
Aeneas had already been very cautious, trying his best not to attract attention, but there were still people who didn't know when to quit...
Aeneas's eyes flickered as he spoke casually.
"You definitely don't want to know what it is." Aeneas's tone was calm. He glanced at the man, who was big and burly with a face covered in pockmarks. He didn't look like a good person.
"What the hell?" Pockmarked Three-Rough saw how completely unconcerned Aeneas looked, and immediately lost his temper. "Are brats this arrogant these days?"
Pockmarked Three-Rough reached out at once, trying to hoist Aeneas up in one go, but he tugged with one hand for quite a while and still couldn't lift him.
A cold glint flashed in Aeneas's eyes, but he didn't immediately strike back at the man who had provoked him.
Because Aeneas was human, and Pockmarked Three-Rough was human too.
He could deal with beasts without any psychological burden, but in both his past and present lives, Aeneas had never deliberately provoked anyone. He had never gotten into a fight before. The situation had been different when he used the trial card to brutalize Vergo, because the trial card had changed Aeneas's state of mind.
Pockmarked Three-Rough froze for a moment.
"Why is he so heavy?"
He quickly figured it out and stared intently at the hard bundle behind Aeneas.
"It must be a treasure!" Pockmarked Three-Rough reached out at once, trying to pull the bundle from Aeneas's back.
"Ah!"
Pockmarked Three-Rough suddenly let out a scream as Aeneas grabbed his wrist and squeezed painfully.
Although Aeneas looked quite young, his strength had long since far surpassed that of ordinary adults. That grab had hurt Pockmarked Three-Rough badly.
Aeneas then flung Pockmarked Three-Rough's hand away. The man stumbled back more than a dozen steps and nearly fell to the ground. Aeneas left without even looking back, leaving Pockmarked Three-Rough staring at his departing figure in stunned confusion.
"Bulu bulu!"
Pockmarked Three-Rough took a Den Den Mushi out of his clothes. The Den Den Mushi extended its two eyeballs, though no one knew where it had dialed.
"Boss, there's a strange brat here carrying a really heavy bundle. I suspect it's a treasure, but he's unbelievably strong. I can't beat him." Pockmarked Three-Rough continued, "He might be one of Bellamy's people from District Two!"
A cold laugh came from the other end of the Den Den Mushi.
"Hmph!" The voice was exceptionally deep. "Pockmarks, which way did the brat go?"
"Uh..." Pockmarked Three-Rough looked in the direction Aeneas had gone. "He headed toward the Core District in District One. That's our territory!"
"In that case, I'll have the brothers welcome the brat outside." The voice on the other end gave another cold laugh. "If he knows what's good for him and hands over the goods, we might even recruit him. What's wrong with that old fool Kham?"
"You're 'Big Cleaver and Broad Axe' Orton, the only boss in District One!" Pockmarked Three-Rough wasn't very strong himself, but he was quite skilled at flattery.
"Hahaha..." Orton laughed as well, the sound of blunt objects striking the ground mixed into his voice.
Aeneas, meanwhile, knew nothing of this and continued toward his destination.
"On the surface, the Core District is a pirate hunter base, but in reality, it doesn't have much authority. Tinos is mainly controlled by the street gangs." Aeneas recalled the three major street gangs Obi-Wan had told him about.
Orton Group in District One.
Kham Group in District Two.
Scusen Group in District Three.
All three groups were made up of underground street thugs. They usually communicated and interacted through fighting and robbery, and the weaker ones were casually discarded.
"Iron Sword really is too conspicuous. If I just walk in like this, will I attract attention?" Aeneas still had no idea that information about him had already been passed along.
"Forget it. I'll put away Iron Sword and hurry to the trade market on Central Circle Street." Aeneas strapped Iron Sword inside his cloak. "This should be better."
Aeneas nodded in satisfaction and set off.
"I'm almost out of ingredients. Did Uncle Obi-Wan calculate that I'd arrive in Tinos around this time?" The more Aeneas thought about it, the more likely it seemed. "Or does that mean if I fail to complete the mission of defeating Little White and Little Black within a year, I won't even have anything to eat?"
Hiss—
Obi-Wan had played that move far too ruthlessly!
Aeneas continued along his path without noticing that there were no other pedestrians around anymore.
"Hm?" Aeneas stopped walking. "Something's wrong. There's trouble!"
The street had grown much quieter. Every household had its doors and windows tightly shut, while the cold wind blowing through the alleys made Aeneas shiver.
"Clack, clack, clack—"
Before long, more than a dozen fierce-looking men appeared opposite Aeneas. They held all kinds of weapons, making the group look utterly disorganized. They slowly approached and surrounded Aeneas from all four sides.
Aeneas frowned. He reacted quickly and immediately remembered.
"Could it be that man from before?"
Aeneas admitted that although someone had come to rob him, he still didn't have the courage to kill them outright, even if they were an utterly vile criminal.
Killing someone required overcoming a psychological barrier. Aeneas still couldn't do that.
"What do you want?" Although these men looked aggressive, Aeneas wasn't someone they could scare easily. He had seen even more terrifying scenes—had they ever seen a twenty-meter-tall giant eagle flap wings that blotted out the sky and attacked them?
"Nothing much, brat. We want to invite you to join us," said a big-nosed man with eyes that looked as though they had been shattered. "All you have to do is hand over what you're carrying."
"Heh heh." The others raised their weapons one after another: cleavers, longswords, and pistols.
"Damn it. I should've knocked that pockmarked guy out when I had the chance. What a hassle!" Aeneas suddenly regretted it. "Forget it. I'll knock them all unconscious and leave quickly. I still need to check out the trade market and the port."
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
At that moment, a giant more than three meters tall stepped out from behind the others. His entire body was covered in incredibly solid and terrifying muscles.
Aeneas was stunned as well. It was the first time he had seen someone grow that large.
"What do you have to eat to grow that big?" Aeneas wondered inwardly as he looked at the man, waiting to see what he would say.
"Bring me my 'wife'!" The big man was bald, with a huge, egg-shaped head. A cross-shaped scar ran from the top of his head down to the corner of his eye, making him look extremely ferocious.
Aeneas was puzzled as to why he wanted them to bring out his "wife."
Then he saw a giant ax more than four meters long, with a blade that was over two meters wide.
Aeneas recognized it immediately.
"Big Cleaver and Broad Axe" Orton—the underground gang boss of District One.
But...
Aeneas was bewildered.
"Does robbing someone really require this much fanfare? I'm not some important figure!"
