At Shakky's Rip-off Bar, Rayleigh treated Wude to drinks.
Not long after, Wude set off on his return journey once more.
With a longbow slung across his back, he left with his men.
"What an incredible young man." Shakky stood at the entrance, watching Wude's retreating figure.
"Yeah. What a terrifying ability." Rayleigh sat by the door, drinking.
Grove 2.
Wude led his men through the area. He remembered this place because many years later, Zoro would get lost here after finishing his training.
Down the street, a line of outrageously arrogant pirates swaggered over in matching suits.
The man at the front was a towering, muscular giant over five meters tall, with a massive heavy hammer more than three meters long strapped to his back.
His purple hair spiked out like a starfish. Behind him, his underlings held iron chains that bound bounty hunters beaten until their flesh was torn and bloody.
As the group marched down the street, pedestrians hurriedly moved aside.
"Which suicidal bounty hunter still dares to come after me? I'm this year's Supernova, Clifford!" The burly man pounded his chest and swept his gaze over the surrounding pirates and bounty hunters.
No one dared answer him. He threw back his head and laughed excitedly.
Rustle, rustle, rustle~
It was the sound of flipping through little notebooks.
Not far away, Wude and his men were searching through bounty listings.
They looked exactly like students frantically looking up information in class.
The original story had never even mentioned the Supernovas from these years, but why pass up two-legged Berry?
Over the past few months, Wude had grown a little taller. He now stood at 1.95 meters.
But compared to these monsters who stood five or six meters tall at the slightest, he was like a one-story house next to a two-story villa.
Clifford was so tall that with just a slight downward glance, he spotted what this little guy was doing.
"You're looking for my bounty?"
He grinned as he clenched his fist, considering how to twist this little bug apart.
"Hold on, I'm almost there." Wude waved his hand and slapped away Clifford's large palm, clearly telling him not to touch him.
Clifford frowned and reached for him again. "You want to catch me for the bounty too?"
"Two-legged Berry is practically throwing itself into my pocket. I'm not stopping it." Wude did not even look at him as he easily dodged the large hand.
"Bastard!" Clifford gritted his teeth so hard they creaked, then swung a fist at Wude.
Wude kept flipping through the notebook, nimbly evading the Supernova's punch.
Boom!
Clifford's fist smashed a crater into the ground. His face twisted with rage as he glared at the man who had been toying with him.
"You've got some skill. I'm Clifford, the Supernova from the South Blue, with a bounty of 75 million Berry!" Clifford grabbed the heavy hammer from his back and swung it, the hammerhead howling through the air as it crashed toward Wude. "You should be proud to die by my hand, brat!"
A Supernova worth less than 100 million? Wude was somewhat disappointed. He found himself looking forward even more to the premium two-legged Berry of the future.
"Business is getting easier and easier these days. Now the products even quote their own prices." Wude closed his notebook with satisfaction. Instead of drawing his blade, he retreated and took the bow from his back.
"What? You dare insult me?!" Clifford roared furiously as his body underwent a tremendous change. Leopard spots appeared on his skin, his swelling muscles burst through his clothes, and a leopard tail emerged behind him and swayed.
Clifford easily swung the heavy hammer with one hand while extending the claws of his other hand, tearing toward Wude!
So he was the previous user of the Zoan-type Neko Neko no Mi, Leopard Form!
"Who set that bounty? It's completely unreliable. This job's a bit of a loss. Clifford, catch this arrow!" Wude held the bow in one hand, nocked an arrow with the other, and drew the string. With a sharp whoosh, the arrow flew free.
This weapon was the reward for checking in after Kyros's 3,000 victories: the Imperial Arm, Sure-Hit Bow: Winged Glory. When firing an arrow, if he called out the target's name, then as long as the target was within range, the arrow would pursue them forever until it struck.
Clifford let out a miserable howl as an arrow hit his shoulder. The arm holding the heavy hammer erupted in pain; his shoulder had been pierced through, and his arm went limp as the hammer dropped to the ground with a dull thud.
Wude drew another arrow. "Clifford, how's the power of my arrows?"
Whoosh!
The arrow shot from the string. Clifford roared in fury and fully shifted into his beast form, gaining greater mobility as he quickly dodged.
The arrow narrowly skimmed past him. He sighed in relief, raised his still-strong left arm, and charged forward with claws outstretched.
"Hotheaded idiot." Wude mocked him again. Clifford was enraged, but before he could reach his opponent, he let out another agonized scream.
Splat!
The arrow had somehow curved back around and pierced through his left shoulder blade from behind, making cold sweat pour down his face.
Wude drew another arrow, trying this Imperial Arm for the first time. It felt pretty good.
Aside from Flying Slash, he now had another long-range attack.
Every shot hit!
The arrogance had completely vanished from Clifford's face. His pupils contracted as he turned around in terror and ran.
"Stop him for me!" Clifford's arms hung limply at his sides as he ran past his underlings and fled into the distance, ordering them to buy him time.
"Kill him! Hack him to death!"
The pirates surged forward, raising their blades.
"Clifford, make them stop!" Wude fired an arrow. It somehow weaved around the pirate underlings, shooting past them with uncanny agility before piercing Clifford's left calf.
Thud!
Clifford's left leg gave out, and he dropped to one knee. Supported by his first mate and swordsman, he gritted his teeth and continued fleeing.
Wude's men raised their guns and blades, engaging the pirates.
Gunshots rang out, chilling the heart, while blades clashed in flashes of cold light.
The scene instantly descended into chaos, but Clifford, their captain, did not care in the slightest whether his underlings lived or died. He only wanted to escape.
He had truly disgraced every previous user of this Devil Fruit.
Wude released Kuroh and had him charge into the crowd of pirates, slashing wildly with his claws.
Kuroh pierced a pirate's body with one claw, snatched away the man's spiked club, then swung it in wide circles and smashed it into the surrounding pirates.
Splat! Splat! Splat!
Fragile bodies were pierced and torn apart by the spikes of the club, sending many pirates stumbling back in terror.
Kuroh beat his wings violently, knocking down an entire row of pirates and separating the two sides.
With a whoosh, an arrow flew over everyone's heads and pierced Clifford's only remaining leg.
Then two more arrows came flying, piercing the hearts of the first mate and the swordsman as they flew past in sprays of blood.
Having lost all support, Clifford collapsed helplessly to the ground. He strained to twist his head around and roared in furious unwillingness.
"So this is this year's Supernova? What a disgrace!" Wude put away his bow and walked toward Clifford.
Clifford's underlings were so frightened that their eyes had gone blank. They instinctively backed away, making way for him.
Wude walked up to Clifford, grabbed him by the head, and dragged him away. "Let's go. We made some money. We're having a feast tonight."
