Background

Wude was once homeless and without enough food after arriving in the world. An elderly man, Grandpa Greg, took him in within the Oykot Kingdom; Wude later chose to return to him out of gratitude. 1

At Roger’s execution in Loguetown, Wude completed his first Famous Scene Check-In and gained the Ajin bloodline. The reward gave him resurrection after death and the winged Black Ghost later called Little Black or Kuroh. 1 2

Greg arranged for Upton to train Wude in swordsmanship, marksmanship, and hand-to-hand combat. Wude trained for four years, favoring swordsmanship while developing his body and close-combat skills rather than relying solely on immortality. Greg died six months before Wude departed, and Upton’s final lesson urged him to forge the world’s strongest sword strike. 2

Wude subsequently traveled the seas as a pirate hunter, using bounties to fund himself and his followers. Though he associates with pirates such as Shanks and Rayleigh, he consistently states that he intends to join the Marines and use their position to protect civilians. 5 23 32

He can be relaxed and kind toward children, civilians, and subordinates, yet is ruthless toward pirates and manipulators. He protects innocents and financially supports his followers’ attempts to rebuild their lives, but he also deceives, executes, or exploits enemies when he considers it useful. 13 35 36

Wude has a playful, provocative sense of humor. He bluffs Marines with an invented rank, cheats at drinking by killing and reviving himself, and frequently treats dangerous situations as opportunities to test his abilities. 6 17 47

Ajin Physiology

Shanks Encounter

Wude meets Shanks while pursuing pirates, refuses an invitation to join the Red-Hair Pirates, and challenges him to experience the gap created by Haki. Shanks decisively defeats him, but Wude reveals his resurrection ability by reviving from a self-inflicted fatal wound. 5 6

Xiluo and Daisis Conflict

While waiting at an island controlled by Xiluo and Daisis, Wude investigates their system of poison, hypnosis, coercion, and hostage-taking. He defeats their operation through Kuroh, hostage exchanges, and manipulation, ultimately handing the siblings over to the Marines after using Xiluo’s poison to eliminate hundreds of pirates. 17 19 20 22

Dressrosa Journey

Wude reaches Dressrosa under King Riku’s rule, befriends Violet, investigates Kyros’s reputation, and awakens Observation Haki. He motivates Kyros to pursue his 3,000th arena victory, receives Winged Glory through a system reward, and later teaches Kyros Observation Haki. 27 28 31 32

Bounty Hunting and Return to East Blue

Wude captures pirates across the New World and Sabaody, including the Supernova Clifford. He distributes bounty money among his followers, helping them seek redemption, then returns to East Blue and continues eliminating pirate threats while building a legendary reputation. 34 35 36

Wude joins the Marine Academy alongside Smoker, records a Doriki score of 1,200, and becomes the strongest candidate in his class.
