Cave

Moyun shouted.

They were several enormous mosquitoes, almost as large as a human head.

"My God, how could there be mosquitoes this huge?"

Kuina said this while dodging the mosquitoes' attacks.

If one of these mosquitoes took a sip of blood, wouldn't it drain a person dry?

"My God! Run, hurry!"

Hisoka swung his little legs frantically in Moyun's hand. When he saw a giant mosquito flying toward him, he cried out in terror.

"What are you yelling for? Aren't you a plant? It can't suck your blood!"

"These mosquitoes can suck plant sap too!"

Otherwise, Hisoka would not have been so frightened.

Moyun marveled at the discovery. These mosquitoes were omnivores after all. They were unbelievably powerful.

There were far too few animals on this island. Most of what lived here were plants and insects, so surviving here was incredibly difficult.

That was also why, despite traveling through the forest for so long, Moyun and the others had not seen a single large carnivore.

"These mosquitoes really won't quit!"

Moyun's group was doing all right, but Olvia was starting to fall behind. After all, she was just an ordinary person.

They had to find a way to shake them off.

Moyun tossed Hisoka into the air and shouted, "Hisoka, hold on tight to me!"

"What? What are you doing?"

Hisoka had no time to worry about anything else. He stretched out his vines and tightly wrapped them around Moyun's waist.

"There are others too. Take them along!"

Moyun planned to use his ability to carry everyone away temporarily. The range could not be too large, or they would fall straight into the sea.

Olvia stumbled as she dodged a mosquito's attack. By now, she was completely exhausted.

The long journey had left her short of strength.

The mosquitoes were also smart enough to keep pursuing her relentlessly.

The black sphere in Moyun's palm grew larger and larger, but Olvia was too far away. He could not take her with him at all.

"Damn it, can this sphere split apart or not?"

If only I could send a black sphere directly to Olvia.

Just as Moyun was growing anxious, the black sphere slowly expanded into two.

"My God! Sure enough, when people are pushed to the brink, they really have to force themselves!"

Moyun hurriedly sent one of the black spheres beneath Olvia's feet. Olvia suddenly vanished, narrowly dodging the mosquitoes' attack.

Seeing her escape, Moyun finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing that Kuina and Hisoka were both beside him, he took them straight into the other black sphere.

When the mosquitoes saw that the target they had pursued for so long had vanished, they began flying around aimlessly.

The sound of their flapping wings grew even louder, as if to display their fury.

They had finally found new intruders, only to lose them. How could that be acceptable?

If their leader found out, it would surely eat them!

The mosquitoes continued searching the forest, unwilling to give up.

Moyun and the others landed in a strange cave. It was a very deep, open-air cavern, and it was damp and cold.

The sunlight above could not reach the bottom at all.

"Hisoka, do you know where this is?"

"I know. Of course I know!"

Hisoka warily looked around. His large eyes were filled with fear.

He did not know why they had suddenly appeared here, but this was that monster's lair!

It was countless times more dangerous than those mosquitoes!

"There are even more mosquitoes here than outside! How did we get here? You all have to be extremely careful now!"

Hisoka tried stretching his vines, hoping to reach the edge of the cavern above.

But the cave was simply too deep, and he could not do it.

"Ah, what a pain. If we go out now, who knows whether we'll run into those mosquitoes again."

Moyun looked at the small sphere in his palm. Although he could teleport people along with him, the ability had a cooldown.

I'm still not strong enough!

"What should we do now?"

"Wait. This seems to be that place. I think I remember it a little!"

Olvia looked at the surrounding environment and walked to the edge of the cave. Because of the excessive dampness, it was covered in green moss.

But it was still faintly possible to see some writing on the cave wall.

"What does this say? It's been corroded too badly. We can't make it out at all!"

Olvia used the handkerchief in her pocket to wipe away the moss, but even then, they still could not see what had been written.

"It doesn't matter. I can see a passage ahead. Let's follow it and take a look."

There was no way Moyun would stay here obediently. Since they had come all this way, it would be a waste not to explore properly.

"What! If you want to go, go by yourselves! I'm not going with you!"

After hearing Moyun, Hisoka quickly shrank himself into an even smaller ball, leaving only a pair of round eyes exposed.

At worst, I'll wait until I grow a little more. Maybe I'll be able to get out then!

"Are you really going to stay here?"

Moyun stroked his chin and looked at Hisoka teasingly.

"Yes. No matter what you say, I'm not leaving!"

"All right. I wonder where those mosquitoes outside will come back from. If they fly in from above and see such a cute, tender bunch of vines growing here, they'll probably have quite a feast."

Moyun shrugged, as though he felt sorry for Hisoka.

"What are you still doing? Hurry up and catch up! If you get lost later, I'm not coming back for you."

Hisoka, who had been hiding in the corner moments ago, was now standing in front of the passage.

Although his face was merely a mass of vines, everyone could still sense how serious his expression was.

Moyun and the others exchanged glances and smiled helplessly.

Sure enough, he was still just a child. A little scare was all it took to get him moving.

The group entered the narrow passage. The farther in they went, the more clearly they could hear the sound of running water.

"What is that smell?"

Moyun twitched his nose, nearly sneezing.

It grew darker and darker inside, until they could not see anything at all.

"Does anyone have a light in their backpack? I forgot to bring one."

They had come exploring without even bringing a flashlight. Moyun quietly reflected for one second.

How could a captain be so thoughtless?

"I brought one. Should I take it out now?"

Olvia was unsure whether there might be giant mosquitoes inside as well. Unfortunately, mosquitoes were attracted to light.

"Turn it on, but be careful."

Kuina followed behind Moyun, while Hisoka clung tightly to her scabbard. He absolutely refused to be the one in front!
