For some reason, the passage was narrow and incredibly long. The group had been walking for ages, yet they still had not made it out.
"How much longer do we have to walk? We can clearly hear the water!"
Hisoka complained. He distinctly remembered that it had not been this long before.
Could the cave have changed after all this time?
Moyun also sensed that something was wrong. The sound of running water was clearly getting louder, yet they seemed unable to reach the end no matter what.
The flashlight always revealed nothing but more path ahead. There was no end in sight at all.
Could this be the legendary ghost wall?
Well, damn. Even the world of pirates had ghost walls!
"Should we keep going? We can't just keep walking like this."
Olvia had never encountered anything like this before, so she was somewhat at a loss.
"Don't worry. I can teleport everyone away now, but I don't know whether we'll end up back here."
A black sphere gathered in Moyun's palm, slowly expanding until it was large enough to hold three people. In an instant, all three were sucked inside.
With a thud, they fell to the ground.
Moyun got up and rubbed his sore backside. So it really had been an illusion just now.
Otherwise, they would never have ended up here. It seemed the monster Hisoka had mentioned had discovered their trail and actually resorted to such a despicable trick!
The surroundings here were wide open, with an enormous pool of water and a medium-sized circular platform in its center.
"L-Look! Why are there so many mosquitoes?!"
Hisoka cried out, his little hand trembling as he pointed at the wall.
The wall above their heads was densely covered in giant mosquitoes. Even someone as thick-skinned as Moyun felt his scalp go numb at the sight.
Why was this called Sea Root Island? It should have been called Mosquito Island!
Why were there so many mosquitoes?
And why did everyone else encounter bats and the like when exploring caves, while he had to deal with mosquitoes?!
"These mosquitoes should be resting right now. We just need to avoid waking them."
Kuina pried Hisoka off her sword sheath. The little guy was more than a little in the way.
"Olvia, where exactly is the historical text now?"
"It should be on that platform."
Olvia frowned as she surveyed the surroundings. At last, this place somewhat matched the scene she remembered.
It was just that the pool had not been so large back then, nor had there been so many terrifying mosquitoes.
That was why investigating the historical text on this island had been fairly easy at the time.
"Then let's rest here for a while. Once my black sphere is available again, we'll head over."
That was the only option for now. They also had to be careful not to wake the mosquitoes.
"Everyone, what's that? Something climbed out of the water!"
Hisoka took several steps back and immediately hid behind Moyun.
"Ribbit! Ribbit!"
Several frogs crawled out of the water and simply stared at Moyun's group without moving.
"So they're just frogs."
Moyun breathed a sigh of relief. A few little frogs were not a problem.
Wait, wasn't that croaking a little too loud?!
A bad feeling suddenly rose in Moyun's heart.
Sure enough, the sound of wings fluttering gradually came from above them.
"Hisoka! See if you can extend your vines to that platform!"
"But those frogs!"
Hisoka wanted to approach the water, but the frogs kept staring at him. That was way too scary!
"They're just frogs. Why would a plant be afraid of frogs?!"
"There's also a super huge frog here! These little frogs coming out means it's feeding time!"
Hisoka shouted. More importantly, giant frogs ate plants too!
Moyun had clearly not expected that connection. Mosquitoes had already caught the scent of fresh flesh and were flying toward them.
Although the space was large, there were simply too many mosquitoes.
Didn't frogs eat mosquitoes?!
Moyun's eyes lit up. He immediately picked up one of the frogs from the ground and held it out toward the mosquitoes rushing at him.
It worked!
By the time the mosquito saw that there was a frog in front of it and tried to stop, it was already too late.
Though the frog looked small, it opened its mouth and swallowed the mosquito whole.
"Hurry, each of you grab a frog. These are our protective charms."
Perhaps because of the giant frog's influence, the other mosquitoes did not dare attack the frogs and could only let themselves be eaten.
"This is the power of second-generation frogs."
Moyun shook his head. Sure enough, people could always come up with solutions. That big frog was really big-hearted, sending its own children out first.
Just as Moyun was marveling at this, ripples suddenly spread across the previously calm water.
A pair of enormous eyes emerged.
"Hey! Your sons are all in our hands!"
Moyun shouted, even raising the frog in his arms to show those eyes.
The immature little frogs had no real awareness, so they could only let Moyun handle them as he pleased.
"Ribbit!"
When those eyes saw its children in the hands of these outsiders, it let out an enraged roar. Its true body finally emerged from the water as well.
It really did resemble an ordinary frog.
The giant frog's back was black like steel and covered in dense spikes that gave off an eerie purple glow.
Its eyes were a deep crimson, making it look utterly terrifying!
But Moyun was not afraid at all now.
"Let us pass right now, or I'll crush these little brats to death."
Straight to the point.
Moyun's words successfully provoked the frog.
How could this human be so outrageously bold?!
It had waited more than ten years to have these few children, yet this human was actually threatening to crush them to death!
"Ribbit ribbit ribbit!"
The giant frog opened its huge bloody maw and roared at Moyun. Its saliva even splattered onto Moyun's hair.
Moyun's expression instantly turned cold, and his previously playful grin vanished.
That disgusting liquid had actually splashed onto his beautiful silver hair!
Thankfully, it was not poisonous. If it had been corrosive, would he have gone bald?
He was already short. His handsome appearance was all he had!
"You're courting death!"
With a leap, Moyun reached the giant frog and punched it in the eye.
"Why exactly is he angry?"
Kuina's mouth twitched. They were fighting already?
